Great Canal Journeys

Has anyone else been following the various series of "Great Canal Journeys" (C4) with Timothy West ( never really liked him previously) and Prunella Scales?

It's such a gentle series of programmes and Pru is so lovely. Worth a watch (probably repeated sometime on More4 or Dave).

Last in the most recent series earlier this evening on C4.

I was watching him yesterday drinking wine at the helm, I wonder if you can be charged for been intoxicated in control of a coal boat...

I suppose the carnage of a crash at 4mph is a bit different than at 70mph....

When I go on holiday I like to pop my top!

It's so sad that Pru Scales is suffering from dementia and you can see that she's struggling with it, especially in this series, but she's so brave and handles the situation so well.

We enjoyed their trips along the Canal du Midi and the Canal du Nivernois (featured in previous series) and were inspired to visit both this year.

Never heard of the series living in Germany LOL, so it won't come as much of a surprise when I say that we've never watched any of the series. However, lo and behold, they are appear on YouTube and having now watched the first few minutes of Episode 1 Series 1 I'm convinced that we've now found something decent to watch over the long winter months. Not having seen Pru or Tim for umpteen years it came as bit of a surprise how they have both aged (as indeed we have ) and equally sad to hear of Pru's illness.
Thanks for posting, Roger - excellent stuff.

Now isn't that silly. I've just looked it up on You Tube and there are a number of episodes listed. However, when I click on any of them we are barred from viewing them in the UK because they are the product of C4

good news the new series one of 4 starts tonight Sunday at 8pm on channel four
they are in Sweden..

Tim and Pru are back.

Just watched the first episode of the new series on C4 (Great Canal Journeys). Tonight's episode was Venice.

Such a relaxing programme and they can be quite funny.

Can't find that info. Alan but it's brand new. First showing in the UK was yesterday. This week Venice, next week Netherlands. Week 3 ?
