Course not. They were thrown at all the Rockers.

Can't lay hands on any photos of my Lambretta but here's a bit of "modern" nostalgia. https://diaryofadetour.com/mod-scooters/

In those days we wern't wealthy enough to afford new Bermuda bars. lights and mirrors so it was to the local scrap yard where we picked up lights, mirrors and disused chrome Hospital Trolleys that we could fashion bars from. Mother was not too happy that her 40s Fur Coat ended up as a backrest and seat cover though Mustn't forget the 10' Tank Aerial

I still have one decal that takes me back to the 60s however (in fact two as there's one on the other rear wing too).

I'm the same Randa -don't think I had a camera then so no shots of my TV175 in its prime.

Lots of our stuff found its way out of the shipyard and other stuff was involuntarily donated - they were quite wild times from what I can still remember.

I had a scooter mate with well-off parents and a well paid job, who used to give me his cast offs especially when he had dropped his bike. my dad was a coppersmith and good and knocking things back in shape. I paid £20 for my TV. in 67,which seemed like a fortune then........

I'm surprised they let them in, they've got the bally doors on the wrong side, although the second one seems to have one on each side, Johnnie foreigner don't cha know.

I love the lack of “regimented” pitching. 😁

The fact that there is a UK owned 'Wartburg 353' in the picture startled one French commentator. He didn't realise that they were sold so far west.

Anyone know where this campsite is?

I like the Triumph Herald - they were a bonny little car.

We were talking about the frightening Herald Vitesse with the 2 litre engine in the "First Car" feed recently.

The way the bonnet lifted up like the Triumph Spitfire made them great to work on............

Happy days

To use the words of Max Bygraves "I wanna tell you a Story"

As a young man, I once owned a Triumph Herald. On one occasion while in work, I was asked if I could drive to Port Talbot and pick up the works van to use for a site visit.
As I knew the normal driver of the van very well, I arranged with him to leave him my Herald to drive home with and I would deliver the van back to his home later that day.
Did I get a bo****ing from him when I took it back. He related the story of my awful car with bad brakes which he thought he was going to kill himself in.
Part of his journey home involved crossing a hump backed bridge before braking hard at a road junction. As he crossed the bridge and applied the brakes the front bonnet opened forward (The bonnet was also the front wings on the Herald) totally blocking his view.
That bridge is still there today and I always remember Vernon's words everytime I cross it

I had a Triumph Spitfire with a hard top.Nice car which was very reliable. For a short time in the late 60's we were a two car family. We had a Ford Anglia 105E and a Lotus 7 which only had a BMC engine with two huge Webber carbs. My only speeding fine at the time was in the Anglia.I later had our most unreliable car ever -a Hillman Imp.Cylinder head problems, clutch problems etc etc.
Mrs FinnWoody said I only married her because she was the only local girl who could push the car when it broke down- obviously I had to steer.

Did you ever try to drive your Spitfire in the snow or on really icy roads?

Now that was an interesting experience...........................but hey I am still alive!
