I am replacing door catches as they are worn and not securing it open in a breeze and it slams but used bungees. Now I have the parts, what sealant is used when putting screws back in, it is a grey and remains tacky so not a silicon. Thanks

I have never seen the super sticky elastic snot that you are referring to for sale.
Sikaflex 221/228? is commonly used in the caravan industry as a non setting elastic/flexible adhesive sealant. This is expensive and some are now using a cheaper Sikaflex producr readily available from Screwfix. https://www.screwfix.com/c/sealants-adhe...ives-_-sikaflex
I have also used the grey roofers mate https://www.screwfix.com/p/geocel-trade-...rey-310ml/72630 from screfix for sealing underneath areas of the van after fitting sockets etc. This is also a flexible sealant.
Whilst these are NOT the same as the original Hymer/Eriba product they do work.

Roger, I worry about you sometimes, and this is from a man carrying a toy bear around Europe.

You should have plenty of the grey stuff spare oozing out from your awning rail to use!

I think you'd do better to leave the original catch in place and simply put a bit of insulating tape on the tab. (See Here)
