Floor vents

I posted this on Facebook but posting here too...
We have three of these floor vents on our 2014 420GT (one in each rear corner and one under the wardrobe) and I’m wondering if anyone covers them on the coldest of nights? Our dog sleeps on the floor and gets a lot of cold air from these vents. It looks as if they are made to accept some sort of cover? Obviously not advisable to leave them covered for long. Any thoughts welcome.

I seem to recall somebody posting that a disposable paper coffee/tea cup fits nicely over the vent and stops draughts.
