Thetford C4 toilet valve knob squeak

The valve mechanism on my Thetford C4 cassette is a bit stiff, but works ok, lubricated with olive oil. The knob, when turned, squeaks as if it needs oiling at the rotating joint immediately under the knob. The manual gives no clue as to how the knob might be removed to lubricate it. I tried spraying WD40 into the joint with no effect. Help please; the squeak is quite loud, and could be embarrassing on a quiet night time campsite.

Thanks

Nick

You could try loud moaning noises to disguise the squeak. Then no-one will complain in the morning. They’ll all just be too jealous!

A good spray with silicon above and below, has cured the squeak.

Thanks
