The dreaded awning light

I removed the lens last time to fit halogen bulbs. I remember it was quite a faff to get off.

Today, I had a gentle pull at it and it came straight off in my hand.

It's the top lug that's the culprit. It is no longer projecting out like the bottom one.

I can only assume I pushed it back with screwdriver after using a hairdryer the first time I removed it.

It doesn't seem damaged and is rigid in place. ie not flexible so cannot wedge it out with something behind.

Do you think it would bend back out using a hairdryer ?

The problem is the base has the bent lug. That's more like £90. I know the cover needs replacing though, that's what made me look at it.

Steve, I cannot see the lug to determine the shape it now is. Your idea of a hair drier is sound, you have nothing to lose. If all else fails you could decide to remove the gasket seal that I guess is now crumbling, clean everything down with meths, masking tape the areas and seal the front on with clear silicon as the led's you have put in should last more or less for ever.

I might as well try it as you say. I've already replaced the seal. You can see the lug if you click on the left photo.

Maybe I could just use a blob of silicon in place of the lug.

Update - The hair drier worked. I made sure I protected the paint first. Thanks Colin for giving me the confidence to have a go. Now going to order that new cover!

What a difference 15 years makes. I think I got the last one.

The only thing that changes colour more quickly is some peoples hair during lock down.
