After our trip at Easter down through Denmark, in our VW Camper, to pick up our Puck we started planning a summer trip. What started as a plan to go no further than the new forest ended up as a trip across Europe to Lake Garda! We took weeks to plan the route, or at leadt i planned whilst my wife smilled each time i reached for the road book again. Eventually opting for a route through Germany and Austria on the way out and Switzerland and Luxembourg on the way home.

our agenda was,

Germany, nr Dahn, 1 night.
Austria, nr Reutte, 2 nights
Italy, Lake Garda, 8 nights
Switzerland, Luzern, 2 nights
Luxembourg, Ettlebruck, 1 night

We wanted to have a bit of time at some of our stop overs, both to have time to sight see and also to recover! Our top speed is only 50mph and in the mountains we were a bit slower!

Before going i spent nearly as much time worrying about breaking down as to where we were going. In the end we bought a selection or spares for the VW and made sure we had break down cover, also had Elvis fully serviced before the trip and his MOT falls at the begining of August. Glad to say we didn't then have any problems, other than a fuse to the 12v Aux socket that the kids use for their phones. Oh and our VW does need oil when running hot. For the next trip i will need to give a bit more thougyt to servicing our puck and whether he needs a seperate box of spares. Could overload you with photos, from Germany and all the way back around to Luxembourg he scenary was stunning.

Our ferry crossing was with DFDS, Dover - Dunkirk, also although we had an idea for our overnight stops, we didnt pre book. Wanted to keep our options open in case things changed on the road. We did book the campsite at Lake Garda but onky paid a deposit. Left a day ealy for a visit to Verona where wecstayed for one night.

DFDS has suited us very well for various journeys including skiing in France.
