It says 550 watts max. Breadmaker cycles can be up to 3 hours, some of that time its doing nothing but slightly warming the dough, some of it the motor is kneading, so the 550 watts I guess is when its actually baking. I have tripped the electrics at campsites with a little travel hairdryer, so the downside would be the electric might trip with your bread part way done. Mind you, I have just looked at said travel hairdryer and thats 750 watts, I would never have thought it that powerful. So, this thread has been very useful for me.... even if I did go way off topic with it! (you don't have an emoticon for an embarrassed face!).

Thats about 2 1\2 amps so should be OK you do have to check each campsite to find out how many amps the hookup supply is and juggle your appliances to suit.

The Panasonic is four hours or five if you make wholemeal bread.

We've found that Tesco's own brand flour is just as good as and half the price of other brands. Here's a recipe that never fails:

1 teaspoon dried yeast
250g white flour
250g wholemeal flour
1.5 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon sugar
25g butter
320 ml water
100gm Lidl mixed seeds in seed tray on top of machine.

Set to 'bake raisin', medium loaf, light crust et voila!

We slice the loaf and freeze two slices to a plastic bag as home made bread dries out quicker than store bought bread.

I'll show that receive to Mark when I give him his pressie, looks like it will be the Panasonic. I have to say that you must have great self control as we eat a full loaf between us in one day. When we stay at Harlech we call at the bakers and the bread is still warm, it's supposed to be for our dinner but we start on it for elevensis. Ellen

We eat a loaf every day too Ellen. On days we are not working or are working at home it is put on first thing in morning so it's ready for lunch. It does stale quite quickly so we have the remnants of the day before's loaf as toast for breakfast - whilst we smell that day's cooking.

I'll know which Eriba to head for on a future meet as I'll just follow the aroma of freshly cooked bread
