Not my best subject but here goes

Leisure Batteries.

The condition of a 12V battery can be measured with a volt meter preferably with a digital one as they are more accurate a multimeter will do this job and I found this on the web

Battery voltage indications:

12.7 Volts or more = 100% charged
12.5 Volts = 75%
12.4 Volts = 50%
12.2 Volts = 25%
12 Volts or less = Discharged

That should give some indication of charge level

Mains hookups
Generally come in 6 10 or 16 amp supplies.................means not a lot to most folks (myself included)

But most electrical equipment comes with a label somewhere telling you what power it uses often in Watts so............. there is a formula to convert that to Amps which goes like this
Amps = Watts divided by Volts............ therefore an 800w toaster at 240 volts = 3.33 amps and an 800w micro wave the same (in practice a little bit more) so on a 6 Amp hookup not a good idea to use both at the same time.

Fridges and lights use minimal amounts of power I understand as do most TV's and radio's

But do watch out for things like home use kettles which can be up to 3000watts or 12.5 amps just to make a cup of tea.

I'm sure someone else will have more info but that gives some idea of the basics.

Most definately my worse subject...... In a small campervan we take little in the way of electrical stuff, we have on board fridge, a little electric heater, laptop and phone chargers. But with a caravan.... well, it has me thinking of all the extras we could take! Has anyone taken a breadmaker? We use one at home daily but maybe this would be a bridge too far whilst touring?!

WATTS TO AMPS CONVERSION - I = P/V - or Current = Power (Watts) divided by Voltage

40 Watts = 0.17 Amp
60 Watts = 0.26 Amp
100 Watts = 0.43 Amp
200 Watts = 0.87 Amp
300 Watts = 1.30 Amp
400 Watts = 1.74 Amp
500 Watts = 2.17 Amp
600 Watts = 2.61 Amp
700 Watts = 3.04 Amp
800 Watts = 3.48 Amp
900 Watts = 3.91 Amp
1000 Watts = 4.35 Amp
1100 Watts = 4.78 Amp
1200 Watts = 5.22 Amp
1300 Watts = 5.65 Amp
1400 Watts = 6.09 Amp
1500 Watts = 6.52 Amp
1600 Watts = 6.96 Amp
1700 Watts = 7.39 Amp
1800 Watts = 7.83 Amp
1900 Watts = 8.26 Amp
2000 Watts = 8.70 Amp
2100 Watts = 9.13 Amp
2200 Watts = 9.57 Amp
2300 Watts = 10.00 Amp
2400 Watts = 10.43 Amp
2500 Watts = 10.87 Amp
2600 Watts = 11.30 Amp
2700 Watts = 11.74 Amp
2800 Watts = 12.17Amp
2900 Watts = 12.61 Amp
3000 Watts = 13.04 Amp
3100 Watts = 13.48 Amp
3200 Watts = 13.91 Amp
3300 Watts = 14.35 Amp
3400 Watts = 14.78 Amp
3500 Watts = 15.22Amp

I see a couple of members are already well and truly imbibed and are going overboard with the old smilies.

Should there be a smilie for a hangover in the morning?

Morning everybody, going slightly off topic as usual but.... Could I please ask blueyonder which make of breadmaker do you use as Mark likes to make bread and we were watching people using a breadmaker on tv a short time ago and it looked very impressive. Thank you. Ellen.

Panasonic here too, although ours is at least a dozen years old.

Panasonic is the only breadmaker worth considering. Perfect results every time.

We have used our kenwood for... must be almost 15 years. It has performed brilliantly but is now showing it's age, especially after a dollop of flour that accidently and unknowingly got spilt down the outside of the tin caught fire It still worked after I rescued it and cleaned it out! Dont tell him lol, but I have bought the old man a Panasonic for Christmas, as they are now the Royalty of breadmakers (he's the cook in our house). We wouldn't be without our breadmaker at home, which is why I asked about taking it in the caravan.

Check the label to see how many watts of power it uses.
