Plans for first 2014 trip

Finally decided where we would go for our first Triton test run in April 2014, eyeballed it yesterday to confirm it's as nice as their brochure indicates and made a pitch reservation earlier today.
We opted for a place only some 30km from home - http://www.hoehencamping.de/index.php - because whilst it will only be for a week we shall be taking everything but the kitchen sink along in preparation for a much longer trip to the UK at the back end of August. This will give us the opportunity of getting used to and sleeping in the van, a leisurley erection of the awning and to see what other items would be handy to have along as well as those items we can live without.
The site is located in a lovely part of the Black Forest - 48°47'55.24"N, 8°38'8.89"E - close to several other Spa Towns so plenty of fresh air to be had. The site also offers 16Amps on tap so we'll be able to run just about everything lol as well as free cable TV. Not that the latter is all that important but being able to watch the news from time to time would be nice. The owner says not to buy a cable as we can borrow one from him so now all I have to find/investigate is some type of adapter contraption that will allow me to somehow connect this cable to my laptop. If such a thing exists of course.
So, with a big Caravan & Camping exhibition coming up near us starting the 11th January, it's time to make a list of some of the small items that we still need i.e. a container to catch the waste water.
2013 Triton 430, VW Touran TDI BM and a Yellow Submarine of course.

No idea. The site has a box on each pitch to connect the cable, so the cable run that the site owner is providing must already come with whatever connector is required. The other end, the part that runs into the van, I'm assuming will have a connector that fits directly into the TV. Whatever type this is I really have no idea. Anyway, whatever type it is, my laptop doesn't come with such a connection point so I'm assuming - and this is where I might be wrong - that there is some sort of adapter available; a cable to USB adapter say. Again, absolutely no idea but I'm sure there will be lots of advice available at the forthcoming exhibition if nobody jumps in on here first.

We stayed at the Municipal camp site in Bad Leibenzell which we really enjoyed.
Yes, agree - a nice site in a nice town. Bad Liebenzell ** is a place we stop off at often, whether out for a day trip in the car or on our motorbikes. They do magnificent tea/coffee and cake in the cafe directly over the bridge on the right hand side opposite the car park. Also, if you walk to the 'T' junction and turn left, after about 50m or so the mobile van (summer only obviously) serve some of the best ice cream that I've ever tasted. Yummy.

Before we bought a cheap 16" TV we used to use something like this . Can't find the exact one. To start with you can throw the stupid aerial supplied away but in your case you'll be on "cable" anyway. Presumably you'll be getting a digital signal?
We found that these little gizmos work a treat and can be used either with a proper aerial or plugged in by way of a coax lead to the on-site connection usually found on the EHU post.
Bad Liebenzell. Ah yes, what a lovely place and a huge outdoor municipal swimming pool directly next door to the camp site. Also two large supermarkets, one 100 metres up from the camp site and the other 100 metres down from the camp site, both well stocked and vying for our custom.
Abiding funny memory and new word in our vocabulary.
At one of the store's beautiful delicatessens Amanda saw what looked like a meat loaf and asked the assistance if she could weigh two slices. The assistant, with a puzzled look responded with a "No sliceable, dat is smearable". A word we now often use and laugh about when buying pate abroad.

"No sliceable, dat is smearable".
You got to love the Germans and one can only truly appreciate the above quote live.

That gadget looks like just the job, gets good reviews and best of all, is also available from Amazon here. For 14€ I'm in - thanks for the heads up.
I like the way you wrote 'Liebenzell' - in the first post with the 'e' before the 'i' and in the follow up post, the 'i' before the 'e' which is correct. With German being the first language in my youth (German mother) and then used periodically over many years - now continuously for the past 12 years, I still have to pause when either writing, spelling or speaking words such as Liebenzell. It goes beyond the English tongue to pronounce an 'i' as an 'e' and vicky verky.

We love the way they have a remarkable command of English (much to our embarrassment) and their use of vocabulary is fantastic but they often used "old fashioned" words. Is it correct to say that? Well you know what we mean. The word "smearable" perfectly describes the product but is rarely used in that context in the UK.
My "i's" and "e's" are bad in any language. "Thier" or "their" is one that spell check is repeatedly telling me off about. I had my confidence in spelling knocked out of me at a very early age when, as an engineering draughtsman who had previously spent three or four days preparing an immaculate "double elephant" manufacturing drawing, I visited the workshop only to see a large red circle around a group of words and a scrawny, spidery text stating that I "Can't f***ing spell". I'd missed an "o" out of loose

A handful of adapters is always useful http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/f-plug-to-coax
I carry two lengths of cable 10mtr. and 25mtr with adapters so I can use an aerial,
satellite dish or bollard.

Took delivery of one of those Freeview DVB-T-202 TV Receiver gizmos a little earlier today, Roger, and have just been trying it out on my Laptop.
(1) As stated on the accompanying mini CD i.e. don't insert into a slot type player, I had to first download the necessary drivers from their website. Pretty straightforward and an easy install.
(2) We're on cable TV at home so first tried unplugging the lead from the back of the TV and inserting it into the laptop via the USB stick. No joy there - which wasn't too surprising as it's a 'terrestrial TV device' after all. So cable from the campsite box will be no good unless it's an extension from a normal TV aerial of course.
(3) Next tried it with the accompanying dipole aerial (straight up and down stick like used in cars of old) which was surprisingly good considering I placed it on top of top of the laptop itself which in turn was placed well inside the house and not near a window. Signal strength was 2-3 bars which gave a good picture with lip sync only falling out a bit when it dropped to one bar. Placed much nearer a window I'm sure will up the signal strength a lot and give a steady signal - in areas where a strong signal is obtainable of course.
All in all I'm very pleased and consider it 14€ well spent if only because I shall be able to keep up with the news and the fact that I always take my laptop along on trips anyway.

Nothing to feel sorry about, Roger, I'm more than satisfied. A mast on the site? I doubt it - more likely a normal terrestrial aerial on the reception roof with multiple splitters integrated with amplifiers distributed around the site.

Spent first week of 2014 in Eriba in Leeds West Yorks visiting family and friends. Put awning up and had a great time battling the storms and winds.
Both van and awning with help from two storm straps coped with the weather
A good week
