Has anybody stayed at camping de la bonnette near Caylus?
Or do you have any recommendations for other sites in the area please?

Sorry mate, not us. The nearest we've stayed is 40 miles north east of there at Flagnac.

If however you do stay in the area, try and get to Congues . Well worth a visit

No, us neither. The heading of your post though kind of intimates that you are interested in the Tan Gorges which, with Caylus being over 150km to the West of the closest edge of the Cevennes National Park makes it a long excursion.
If the National Park is your prime aim I'd personally start looking for a site, of which there are many, somewhat closer. We've camped (tent) several times in the region but mainly high up on the plateau or just outside a small village slightly off the Eastern edge of the NP. Wherever you end up, I can certainly recommend a trip up to the plateau with it's vast open landscape and views down into the two Tarns.

Yes, stupid of me. It's in my brain that we might head that way and I have got vague about the details!

If it is the Caylus area you wish to stay, have a look at Les Trois Cantons (ACSI 1976), listed as St Antonin Noble Val. Friendly Dutch owners, spacious pitches, quiet. One of our favoured shortish stops on the way to Narbonne etc. Handy for the fascinating old town of St Antonin Noble Val on the banks of l'Aveyron river. Recommend approaching from Septfonds via the D926, NOT St Antonin Noble Val as that road has some very steep, narrow stretches.

It was many years ago but we pitched up at Camping les Rivages when the kids were young around 18 years ago and it was a good site directly onto the river and at the head of the gorge. If memory serves me the river was very clear and great for swimming.
My son was into kayaking at the time and there was a good level of decent drops from further up the river down to the campsite.
There was also a couple of small wine producers close by.
From memory the roads through the gorge and up onto the escarpment were interesting to say the least and glad at the time we had our 1st Nissan Terrano which did not have aircon and the drive back up to Saumur was spent with all windows and sunroof open to stop us collapsing in the heat .
From the website it would appear that they have upgraded the swimming pool but then again I'd have expected same after this number of years.

The nearest we got was at Millau, not much help but it seemed a good centre.
