Well that's it confirmed and ferry booked yesterday with travel out from Dover on Saturday 7th June @ 02:30 or 05:15 depending how quickly I get down and back via Calais on Saturday 28th @ 11:00.

Plan to drive down to Savigny les Beaune and stay a couple of nights at Camping Les Premiers - used it many times before on route down / back as just 5mins off the A6.

Then onto Aix-les-Bains and stay at least 7/10 nights at Camping Du Sierroz.. Not been in this area of the Savoie for more than 20 years.

Depending on the weather we may go west or south or north east for another stop, possibly even Annecy or Chamonix before returning back to Savigny-les-Beaune and getting Tara seen by the vet in Beaune, she will be 16 years old in August.
Also when in Beaune do the important wine shopping.

Thinking of an overnight stop at St Omer at Chateau Grandspette before ferry home given its only 35miles from Calais.

I'm hoping that my left leg / knee is back to good working order, only another two weeks of having to wear this full leg brace, so that my bike gets a good run and legs can wander over those little Alps.

Sounds excellent David. We've not been to Aix-les-Bains so will be interested in your reports.

As a thought, on your way back to Beaune, have you explored the area south west of Champagnole in the Jura near Lac de Chalain? We were there for a few days last year and we found some terrific waterfalls and scenery.

The views at Belvedere-des-4-Lacs was stunning.

Last time we were at Lac de Chalain was way back in 1988 but that's a good option will keep it to mind.
I remember well a trip up to Les Cascades du Herisson and wandering behind the waterfall.
