Still in a bit of a quandary about where we go this summer in France and it would be nice if fellow forum members came back with their favourite location/s in France and why?

It's not going to help your deliberations for either A/ Summer or B/ Sites, but I do like Paris, mainly because we have done the Arc de Triumph racing at Longchamp in October several times, so I suppose that could be a favourite.
Good recollections of Amboise (silver band festival), Collioure (painting) and Samois sur Seine (Django Reinhardt festival). Good sites at the first two and in some one's forest the third (in our campervan)

I liked all of Randa's French visit, the views were spectacular, and we felt we were there enjoying the ambience and the various tourist attractions, the campsites were different to uk ones. Italy was a bit crowded though.
for me it was the best French holiday ive had, with out a passport
and the traveling

Impossible to say David. "France" is our favourite place in France.
However, on another thread, we have just been discussing Cernay and it brought back wonderful memories of our trip to the Lorraine and Alsace regions in 2012.
Beautiful villages and towns and some really great camp sites. Very close to Strasbourg.
If you want camp site recommendations let us know.

Two campsites that we frequent quite often because we love these two towns, the area in general and the hiking. Both sites within easy reach of Colmar which is itself worth a day out.
1. Ribeauville - Municipal Pierre de Coubertin - http://en.camping-alsace.com/camping-pie...tin-ribeauville
2. Kaysersberg - Municipal Kaysersberg - http://www.camping-kaysersberg.com/
There's also an interesting place to visit not a million miles away and worth a day trip out - http://www.fort-mutzig.eu/pages/_menu/menu_gbus.html#

We've always wanted to do the Amboise band festival.
I followed the MHF rally reports of it and am now determined to get there. Maybe next year!

David, we loved Eguisheim in the Alsace. Beautiful countryside, wonderful medieval town, more wineries than you could shake a stick at. Storks sitting on the top of the church, locals selling cherries from their gardens in the street, out of his garage. Municipal campsite was great, very laid back and with free wine tasting every Wednesday (I think) in the site office.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention Eguisheim, Julie - a truly beautiful middle age town. They also have a really great wine festival over the last weekend in August and a campsite http://www.camping-eguisheim.fr/?lang=en that's within 5 minutes walking/staggering distance to boot although if attending the festival it's advisable to book early.
One other thing about Ribeauville that I also forgot to mention is that on the 1st Sunday of September (so ties in nicely with Equisheim just down the road) is that they have 'The Fiddlers Celebration' - Pfifferdaj - which goes back to medieval times.
These fiddlers were itinerant musicians from the Middle Ages who used to go from castle to castle to amuse the Lords and their entourage and from city to city to host celebrations and evenings.
The theme also conjures up different images of Medieval history, peasant life, castle life, domestic or fabulous animals, buildings, travel, discovery, work, trades, beliefs, fortunes and misfortunes.
Following the procession, the town's public fountain is filled with the local Riesling and music, dance and good food and drink are enjoyed by all.
Here's a video I made when there in 2012.
