I can never understand those boring old gits who keep going back to the same place year after year. Where's your spirit of adventure?

This is us not only at the same camp site as last year but on the very same pitch! (Naburn Lock, near York).

Note the lovely sunshine, the blue sky and the fluffy white clouds - just like the intro to 'The Simpsons'. It was absolutely peeing down when we left home this morning but the forecast for the week looks promising.

On the same theme - who was it complaining that their neighbours on site used to leave after breakfast and return early evening having spent the day somewhere or other? I couldn't possibly imagine spending all my holiday sitting in an awning (full or sun), feet up reading the newspaper with the highlight being the occasional walk to the loo.
Get those hiking boots on and get out there. Fresh air and exercise will extend your Eriba life.

I understand that Rod's an enthusiastic twitcher so his boots should be very muddy indeed.

Is this a good time to ask
what are the local places you would recommend visiting from Old Oaks?

Appletree Inn, West Pennard for superb food and a 'different' dining experience, oddly their website is offline at present.
Wells
Wells Cathedral
Wells Bishops Palace & Garden
East Lambrook Manor Gardens near Martock/South Petherton
Burns the Bread in Glastonbury
West Somerset Railway
Hestercombe Gardens
Walk from car park in Kings Wood on Reynards Way above Dundon.
Clarks Village in Street (no go area for males)
Fleet Air Arm Museum

That'll start you orf.

How could I overlook the Tor?

But

Burnham on Sea Rod, are you serious, dreary hole of a place?

Tongue in cheek, Andy but it still has sea breezes if the weather is hot and
it demonstrates how near the coast is.
