Well done that man cabbie37. Looking back through past threads I came across the 20& discount for over 60's comment :- DFDS offer a 20% discount on the Newhaven-Dieppe route
I've checked and this is still available, but not on line. You you can get full prices and times on line then phone 0330 587 8787 to access the discount.
WARNING - it costs 13p per minute, Mon-Fri: 8am-4pm, Sat-Sun closed

That I recall, to be correct - the 20% discount is only available if you phone.

I like the route a lot, mainly (as I suspect I mentioned in the original post) they are quite happy for you to park in the ticketing lanes after the late night boat has departed where you can sleep in readiness for the first crossing the next day. I must confess, it feels a little odd, but works a treat...

Edit: but when I last did it, it was just a straight UK landline number, not premium rate...

Edit II: Poking around on saynoto0870 web site suggests that 020 8127 8303 may be an alternative. It would be interesting to know if that were the case should anyone be able to confirm it. It *may* be that that is for Dover-Calais only but worth a punt...

Don't fancy crossing the channel in a punt Hugh. For starters you'd need a very long pole

Well with ACSI details now out I'm tweaking our plans, postponed from 2020 and 2021. Mid trip in the NL I'd homed in on the Veluwe National Park area, for a week or so towards end of June/start of July. The problem I'm having is I'm spoilt for choice.
Any suggestions for a site that is not massive, cars allowed on pitches, has a pool, internet and is a cycle ride from local shop or villages appreciated, ACSI preferred.

Did I hear that we are now able to use our crossing to France in April? So the planning can now start.

Planning that we don't test positive for Covid 24 hours before embarcation as by that time we would be on a campsite in Sussex.
Planning to get the cat her certificate to travel within10 days of travelling (no earlier).
Planning to buy travel insurance.
Do we need to get green cards for each of the countries we intend visiting?
Do we need to get international driving licences which will involve a 40 mile round trip to the nearest Main Post Office.
Planning where to get the cheapest exchange rate for foreign dosh.

It was far easier in the good old days pre Covid and pre Brexit

Roger, I don't think we will need Green Cards or International Driving Licences. Is there anything on the C&MC website?
It's a few years ago, but I seem to recall collecting Euros from Tesco when needing less than £500 worth.

Yes. Just looked up green cards and IDLs and it would appear that most European countries seem to have abolished the need for UK drivers to carry them now. When we last went on 2019 we needed a filing cabinet in the car to carry all the additional paperwork

Has anyone else noticed that the ACSI Camping Card Website no longer carries current ACSI campsite numbers? Yes, I know they change every year but I'm sure the website used to carry them. We now need to rely on the books and map book supplied to identify each site.
Anyway trip planned, job done and it's all passed over to the boss so that she can change it all

Campsite numbers are showing for me here Roger https://www.campingcard.co.uk/france/cen...in-fort-103723/
I've noticed if you download the app onto your tablet there is an option where you do not need to be on the internet to access the information. This a lot easier than reading the size 2 font books.

Bloody Nora. You are correct Motters but are they saving on blue ink or something. It's tiny compared with the rest of the information and as far as I'm concerned it's just as important as the campsite name.

So, good old Brexit strikes again.

If you are crossing to France on a Sunday then beware. We are not allowed to carry meat or dairy products to France yet most French Supermarkets are closed on Sundays. Even Lidl is only open until 12 noon
