I've been over 2 or 3 times since Brexit and such things have never been checked. Even the bit about the GB sticker now having to say UK. The last time, the queue I was in for a ferry had one GB (mine) one UK, no one else had anything. However, that isn;t to say that you might be stopped and have the back of your wrist slapped. The worst thing is the limit that may be enforced when you return of 24 bottles of wine per person...
But, in all seriousness, you will find some other supermarkets open on a Sunday until noon. And a bit of research using google maps centred on your arrival port and then using the 'Nearby' filter to look for supermkets may throw up options. Again, something I did last time I crossed and found an Auchan (Super, not Hyper) 20 miles from Calais that I was able to shop at...

Thanks for that Hugh but our ferry won't be arriving at Dieppe until 3 pm
We'll get over it somehow. It's the milk for a cuppa that'll hurt the most. Wonder if the ferry will have those little cartons in their on board cafe?

Ah.
In truth, I'm not sure who would actually check. The only people I encountered on the way were border staff, and they just wanted to check passports and little else. One trip, I was asked if I was vaccinated, but it was not checked, another time, I wasn't even asked that. SImilar variation of the expecteted processes on the way back. Some were interested and demanded to see Passenger locator forms, others didn't appear bothered.
As far as wine is concerned, the only people that showed interest were French customs people who asked how much I had, I answered 36 bottles, think at th the time, that that was the limit, and was sent on my way. The last time I came back, I actually asked a Customs official at Dover what my limit was. He didn;t know. I have since cheked with HMRC and they have confirmed 24 bottles of still table wine and a further 12 bottle sparkling or fortified. I double checked, the additional 12 sparkling cannot be used for extra still table wine. Bizarre...
My advice is to study the rules, adhere to them and be prepared to show paperwork to prove it.. You know it makes sense...
Maybe a little ziplock of dried milk to tide you over? (Not coffee mate, quite different)

When we went in Sept 21 we took no meat or dairy but all our herbs and spices, annoyingly they looked at nothing but of course you cant rely on that, we did however take two tins of potato products we bought in France the time before as it was produced and purchased in the EU.
You can take gutted fish and fish products up to 20k + of course 2k of snails
. You can also take bread.
And of course Flunch is open Sunday

Last October we went on the ferry to England with a large picnic that was inspected and allowed through. On the way back, I had a suitcase full of a Tesco delivery including chocolate, gammon, etc and that was not checked at all. So, I'd say take some milk and other stuff. If you lose it, it's not the end of the world. I'd also take a little powdered as Cabbie says.

Well it looks like things are getting busy on the Continent. I'd bookmarked a couple of sites for 3rd week in June between Maastricht and Aachen in NL. One advises booking on their website and the other said I did not have to but would advise a call before departure. Last night I checked availability of pitches on the later website and was shocked. Excellent planning with a site map and very pitch has a booking schedule. Out of 100 Comfort pitches, offering 10 amp, car on pitch allowed, free internet, terraced views, tap on pitch etc for the pricely ACSI rate of Euro 21 inc booking, only 6 are still available. Off these 4 are at busy points near toilets or playgrounds or near pinch points at road junctions. My plans to wing it on this one have been scuppered and it looks like I'll be booking.

The passe vaccinale will go next week, but not the passe sanitaire. Many people thing it's premature to drop mask wearing in so many places and cases are going up again at the moment. Keep a mask to hand just in case. I think it's because the squids are back at school, unmasked and so they're passing bugs along nicely, as they do. Hopefully it'll all settle down.

Just a heads up... petrol prices in France are soaring (c. €2.11 for diesel). Might be prudent to fill up in the UK
