2022 - Here we come Europe

Well being of a positive mindset I've got a couple of bookings in and others all lined up ready to go. We do not know where we will be living next summer, it could be Merseyside, it could be Devon, but it's not stopping us.
Our P&O [Tesco] credit note has been used up for an early June crossing to Calais. You can tell how much things have gone up as this single crossing at £195 compares to original return crossing booked for 2020 of £212. Hook of Holland back to Harwich with C&MC mid July looks like just over £100, not much up on 2020 prices. I think deals on a return crossing this route are very attractive so well worth looking into.
Brittany Ferries credit note for August out was cashed in a while ago. The cheaper morning crossing has not been put back on so we are having to overnight it in a cabin. This is a bit more but we will avoid the expense and hassle of a late arrival one night stay near Roscoff. We have a pitch lined up at our favourite Loire site for September, but all riverside pitches had already been booked. This is a very British site so obviously a lot of folk are planning on things getting back to normal.
We just have to wait for ACSI books now in December so we can fine tune the itinerary we have carried over from 2020. When we where working this out we decided it was safest to book 1st and last sites and found that going through the C&MC where possible was best. Prices were comparable for these out of season times, in one case better, than going direct with the sites on ACSI. Another advantage was smaller deposits on bookings that could be cancelled without penalty.

It must feel very free to be booking sites at last!!!
Recently when camping in Normandy we had British neighbours who said they felt safer here than in Britain as we're better at mask wearing and distancing. And the vaccination rate is very high here. 84.1% fully vaccinated over the age of 12.
We're off to La Gacilly next weekend, very sadly without Roger and Amanda..... maybe next year!

I hope so!!! We've never cancelled our reservation. We really need to get back to normal. Can't wait to see everyone again.

MMMMMMM I don't think so. We're awaiting next year - at least this year we've had some lovely trips so things are certainly looking up!!!

Trip booked for France in May and June next year. Now to actually figure out how to do it from NI via Ireland with a dog. Feels good.

I don't envy you that trip. Would it make life easier to get a ferry from Southern Ireland, Stenna Line, Rossiare to Cherbourg. One ferry has to be easier than the stress of lining two up with unknown traffic. I'm guessing cost wise there would also not be a lot in it.
I've had a brief look on the C&MC site and early May out, late June back is £780 so compares well with the double crossing route of Belfast to Liverpool at £400+ and Dover to Calais £300+.

Is the problem with getting the dog to the south of the island of Ireland Colin? I would have thought that if you crossed from the south to somewhere in France then as both countries are in the EU it would be a doddle to get animals across.

Bit of an update so others do not come unstuck as I just have.
In the event you are using up credit notes for Channel crossings, which is easy, you may find you need to book an odd crossing. If on Tesco vouchers which I know many use then this must start in the UK. I've got an odd leg and wanted to use Euro tunnel back but cannot. Interestingly I believe I can use them for P&O from Calais, as it will see my out trip 4 months earlier and classify this as the start of my return journey.
I've also booked Delftse Hout in NL and as in previous booking it is cheaper to go via C&MC than it is direct. I believe this is due to a 8 for 7 days cost deal along with the fact that end of stay falls outside of ACSI rates. It really does need careful planning.

I think we should be ok with the dog as the Pet Password scheme for NI to Europe is still running. To date we have had our pet passport 'updated' by the vet to a new style UK (NI) branded EU Pet Passport. He simply stuck an EU(NI) sticker on the old one. I remain a bit sceptical. Thanks for the very useful link.

@Colin:

We have booked a Rosslare to Cherbourg return. At 860 euro it was quite a stinger. Landing bridging it is far too much hassle for us.

The logistics of this trip used to be very simple...Anyway, first task is to figure out what the hell the number plates should have on them - UK or NI probably, but maybe, although I doubt it - GB. Hopefully stickers will do. Send task, although Im not sure this is necessary - do I need a green card for car insurance. I find this a nightmare. Third task is sussing covid regs, tests requirements, passenger locater forms, proof of double vaccinations etc. On the subject of double vaccinations, Northern Ireland produces a different covid vacc cert from the rest of the UK. Need to find out how the French authorities will view that and if there is anything else they require on top of that. They may require some form of Sworn Statement I believe. The list of third things will wait until the new year, as who knows whats going to happen next with this disease.

I believe for France a Green Card for insurance is no longer required. Driving Permits are also not required. As regards official bits of covid data, We have had both jabs and it would seem straight forward for us. At present if we take an NHS print-out of our vaccine status along with app on Mrs eribaMotters phone we meet the requirements for entry to France. When home I'm guessing the £20/25 self test within 48hrs of return will probably still be in force.
You could do well to look here as a starting point:- https://www.gov.uk/transition-check/questions

Thanks Colin.

'When home I'm guessing the £20/25 self test within 48hrs of return will probably still be in force'. Where are getting a self PCR test for £20/25?

I've just done this one at £28...

https://www.expert-medicals.co.uk/produc...testing-package

But from October 28th, PCR testing will be replaced by the cheaper option of a lateral flow test. Though, actual offers for that option I suspect are not yet available...

Edit: Sorry, October 24th - https://www.gov.uk/government/news/later...tional-arrivals

Further Edit: In France, a printed copy of your vaccination status will be ok, though it is easier to have the NHS app (note, not the NHS Covid app, which is different) that has a record of your vaccinations, From that, you can download a pdf of your status which can then be uploaded to the French TousAntiCovid app, if you wish
