So, If we don't have a smart phone with all the "apps" how easy is it to get into France if we have had both our jabs? Has anyone managed this?

You will get in with a paper print of your vaccination status.
I don’t know how you do your passenger locator form for your return though. I did mine on an iPad and then showed it on the iPad screen. You can’t do it until 48 hours before your return.
You may also have problems getting into restaurants, we had the Tous COVID app which showed our vaccinations, I did see one restaurant scanning a paper version but it was a French customer and so the paperwork may be different to the UK version. Most of them wanted to be able to scan the code within the app.
One would hope there was an alternative to a smartphone but in current world who knows !

Don't worry. You can use your paper version here, Bryn.

As Clive795 says, the issue may well be how you fill in your Passenger locator form. Probably noit the easiest thing to do on a phone, but you can use your phone as a 'hotspot' to provide an internet connection for a laptop or equivalent - or find somewhere offering a wifi connection. I have just come back today from France and had to show my PLF which I had downloaded on my phone as I was unable to print it, of course...
