Yesterday I was browsing and found an advert for a Puck awning. I rang yesterday and collected it this morning. It is the new one with the removable panel on the right hand side. It also had that damned plastic strip that is a right pain to fit, so I shall keep my existing one. I will be offering my old one if anyone needs one, but I need to check it over before I offer it.

I did, but this is the newer version and I got a sunshade with it.

It will , of course look better when erected properly. It was displayed at the place I brought it from and only roughly packed to bring home. So, I got the awning mat out and put it up for the photos and then refolded it to fit the bag properly.

Same one we have. A very good bit of kit !

We have never bothered with the plastic strip, though I have often wondered if we should.....

I'm not sure how effective the plastic strip is. We have the Kampa one, which incidentally I had no trouble fitting, and it stays permanently fitted. It doesn't however, stop the trickle of water down the side of the van in heavy rain. Rain falling on the vertical bit of canvas above the rail is bound to run down onto the kador strip and always finds its way into the inside, the rain strip cannot prevent this. After the last trip I've done a bit more waterproofing of the kador strip to see if it will reduce the problem. Also, from the experience of our first one with the familia, it does get better over time, we just haven't used the awning enough yet. Despite having it for two years, we usually use a caravanstore so have only put it up three times.

Strange how things happen.... I was looking to see if there were any annexes for my new awning available. I found a couple, but I always go away and have a think. Looked again later and still only a couple available. However, Glossop Awnings had a used one. It didn’t say which model it fitted. I rang this morning and the rep came back to me in a very short time and said that it didn’t fit the 260 rail, but he found his last new one. I got it cheaper than the other two I found. He also said that they think they’re going to be in short supply in 2022.. So I brought it and it will be with me on Monday. So I am happy and looking forward to next year.

A bit like hens teeth ! The air awning version I now have also covers other models of Eriba. They all come with the removable panel by the van door to enable the annexe to be fitted. I decided to try and get one to put the various covers etc out of the way.

I am impressed. Glossop Awnings had the annexe I required at a slightly reduced rate compared to the 2 others I saw. Yes Colin, the serial number was correct. I haven’t totally unpacked it yet, but have had a rootle to feel what was in the box.
