Trawling the interweb I picked this up, initially from Machine Mart then Caravan Talk.

So does that take the place of a torque wrench?

Ideal for doing up wheel nuts but what happens when the readout goes to the bottom?

Might well be stating the obvious here but according to the bumf this thing is Calibrated to BS EN ISO6789 so I really don't see any benefit in having it. Either you don't believe what the torque wrench is giving in which you'd be best advised to get it calibrated, or this thing starts giving out dubious results in which case the calibration would need to be checked.
In short, anything that has been calibrated needs to have it's calibration checked periodically.

Hear, hear ! And there goes someone who knows what he's talking about.........Oops ! That's not to say that the majority of persons on here don't
back pedal, back pedal I hear you say....... Mine hasn't been calibrated since I bought it Its mainly used, these days, for the alloy wheel nuts which is the task it was bought for. Ian.

"What happens when the readout goes to the bottom? " ( notice....no purply print !! )

I would have thought the drive was a ratchet drive !......then again, maybe not.
Is it worth the purchase price ?...........depends how much it will be used, I suppose. Ian

Maybe I'm being thick, but I don't understand what the issue is with this thing.

As far as I can see its main uses are to enable a standard ratchet drive to be used as a torque wrench, and to check the accuracy of an existing torque wrench that you suspect might be inaccurate.

In order to do that the adaptor needs to have been calibrated to a recognised standard to begin with (and if it isn't it's about as much use as a chocolate teapot anyway), and to be periodically recalibrated to the same standard, the period being dependent, presumably, on how much use it's had.

Where's the problem?

Seems like quite a nifty item bearing in mind the obvious limitation of its size restricting access in confined spaces and that its reading range isn't particularly wide, especially at the low end.

Good find, Rodders
