Hi all, new to forum and towing. Have purchased a 1960s Eriba Puck which is being refurbished and should be ready sometime next year. In the meantime, I want to change my car. I currently drive a Ford Fiesta Style 1.2 which has the pulling power of a toothbrush so need recommendations please. I drive a lot of miles (16000 annual) so need something economical and easy.

Many thanks, Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth and welcome to Eribafolk.
Although your '60's Puck is very much the lightweight of the Eriba range, it always pays to have a tow car that is perhaps a bit of an overkill for the van. It's always handy to have a bit of extra power in an emergency.
In saying that however, there are a few members of Eribafolk who tow slightly newer, slightly heavier Pucks that yours, with classic 1275 Minis (see the photo galleries).
If it was my decision however, I'd be looking at something like a Ford Focus. We used to drive a 1600 TDi Focus Estate which was giving us > 55 to the gallon solo and nearly 40 mpg when towing a 1000kg Troll..

Thank you but Cabriolet is too expensive. I normally purchase via Ford Solutions and budget is £250 per month with option of handing car back at end of 3 years.

We've pulled our Puck with 2 petrol ford fiestas, a peugeot 1.9 diesel &, currently, a ford focus 1.9 turbo diesel. one of the fiestas had a zetec engine that happily pulled up 1:3 hills!! the other & peugeot were a bit slow/sluggish up hills. The Ford Focus goes like a rocket, is dirt cheap on fuel &, quite frankly, is a bit lethal because you can easily forget you've got the Puck attached!!! So I agree with Randa france & can recommend a Ford focus of the turbo diesel variety. Good Luck!

Ford Focus appears to be the strong contender! My current Fiesta is a Style 1.2 and maximum tow weight is 500kg.
Thank you everyone 😊
