Does anyone remember the game of Chinese Whispers? You probably played it in Cubs or Brownies.

Well this thread has gone the same way. In 30 posts it's gone from iPhone text in German to Squirrel Shit

That's because between us we have solved all the nation's Eriba-related problems and are now becoming bored.

I didn't know about Kali & Spanish but have just bought the 'Spanish' licquorice flattened end sticks in a little old fashioned sweet shop in St Neots.
2 weeks ago we were in the Haribo factory near Uzes and there was an interesting display about the origin and manufacture of licquorice sweets. The hard flattened end sticks were the basic ingots but were huge, something like 30cm long and really thick and looked like they weighed about a kilo each.
In a market we also saw the licquorice twigs that I remember buying as a child.

Never heard of that. Is it anything like liquorice?

Speaking of Spanish, as you were, round where we lived (on the outskirts of Leeds) Spanish was that red bootlace liquorice. Weird, init?

Sherbet Fountains. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Sherbet Fountains. The liquorice stuck in the top of those was a waste of time. The thing to do was chuck the liquorice away, open the paper at the top of the tube and see if you could get the entire contents into your mouth in one go without inhaling it and dissolving into a coughing fit with sherbet coming out of every orifice and tears streaming down your face.

What larks, eh?

i used to like the cones of multi coloured sherbet you could get. Stick your finger in and lick it off. Tongue and fingers both stained . Great times

You are right, damn you. The alternative spelling is licorice, but I bet you Googled it before posting.

I seem to remember occasionally being able to suck the sherbet through the LIQUORICE on the early Mk 1 sherbet fountains but subsequent design modifications rendered this impossible leading to the high jinks you describe.
