No, not in my experience and I've towed with the bikes on all around France and the North of England without any problems.

If anyone is interested in purchasing a stainless steel plate as shown at the beginning of this thread, I have found a fabricator who has quoted as follows for a minimum quantity of 5, £24.19 plus VAT and postage, so probably about £30.

I am keen on having one, if there are 4 others who would like to join me then please pm me in the first instance if we get 15 in total then the price drops to £18.87 plus VAT and postage

Lead time would be 2-3 weeks plus postage, I can collect from the production workshop and ship to members

Looking forward to hearing from you

I am very interested in one of these but I think the 14kg that my mountain bike would add to the front of my Puck would be too much for the 50kg nose weight that my Audi A1 can handle.
Would loading up the back of the van be a solution and balance the weight or would that be bad practice?

I'm not an expert but I understand as long as the weight is evenly distributed then it would be OK

Thanks for the reply (and in my book 14kg at the front and 14kg at the back is an even distribution) but I've read that this isn't good practice?

Hi Chris,

Congratulations, you have snapped up the last one (if my maths is correct!)

Will advise when I hear they are ready for my collection and onward posting

Cheers
Mike

Chezmart kindly pointed me in the direction of this old post, but before I look for a local welder to fabricate a bracket, I just wanted to check that peeps who carried out this modification last year have have had good experiences with it. My only hesitation now is the fact that the jockey wheel bracket was never designed to take the extra stress of a bike carrier, and I wondered why dealers don't offer this modification (as a lot know,AL offers a very expensive mod on the A frame.)

cheers

Ron

I have ordered another 5 from the same fabricator, stainless steel, laser cut, and will be asking £31 each for them at the Summer Meet, the price is slightly higher than before for the item but there wouldn’t be any postage. Offered to Summer Meet attendees on a first come first served basis via this thread rather than PM please, if there are any left I will consider posting, please be aware there are only 3 left now as Tony P, who initiated the query has already spoken for two.

If we get to 10 they may be cheaper, however, if you let me know if you want one by the end of tomorrow I think I may be able to up the order quantity at the same price even if we don’t get to 10

Cheers
Mike
