Drawbar plastic cover replacement

The older Eriba's have a plastic cover on the drawbar. Newer Eriba's are metal. I found a company in Wales near Tenby that designed and fitted a new stainless steel cover reaplacing the old one. I am very pleased with the results. Give them a call on 01834 861193.

Hi and welcome to Eribafolk. Thanks for posting the information.

Are you OK to add the photos on here or would you like me to transfer them from Facebook?

The Eriba is a 2003 model with a plastic fairing and the CAD drawings are still with the manufacturer.

Old thread I know but does anyone know if such a cover is available for a Puck L? Mine has treadplate from the body then a flimsy ( now cracked!) plastic cover over the handbrake to the hitch.

The Puck L plate is probably smaller as your van is not as wide but it might be worth having a chat with the guy or finding a similar sheet metal fabricator near to you and showing him the photos.

Yes, I'm sure it is smaller, to be honest it suppose wouldn't be too difficult for me to fabricate one out of chequer plate, if I can figure out how to get it off ( seems to be riveted to the existing chequer plate) I may have a go If I can get hold of an off cut of plate. I can probably make a bender out of a couple of pieces of angle iron.

Just wondered if a ready made cover was available.

Sorry, but I'm not entirely in agreement with this statement. We previously owned a 2013 Triton and now a 2016 Troll both of which are fitted with a two-part plastic cover over the drawbar. The van side piece takes the form of an imitation chequered alluminium plate although from the underside is clearly plastic, whilst up front is a molded flat grey piece through which the handbrake and under-run brake lubrication points have been pressed out also of plastic construction.
As the vans plated weight is in effect the construction weight excluding any dealer fitted extras/optional extras then from a technical point of view it might be considered a breach of the appropriate construction regulations should a standard fixture be replaced with a non standard part i.e. metal for plastic which would obviously have an influence on the overall weight of the van even if only by a very small amount.

Our 2013 Troll has an aluminium chequer plate piece with a plastic moulding at the front through which the handbrake protrudes.
Jandi supplied a new aluminium part for about £60 quid. On ours it was definitely aluminium.

Hi Deeps,

My rear section is definitely aluminium. I doubt whether the the weight increase by using aluminium, probably less than a kilo, would cause any problems, the cover is purely cosmetic so it would take an extremely zealous traffic police or DVSA official to take any action.

Hi Francis/Tony,

Was the part you replaced with an Aluminium part the plastic front section? If so I imagine they may have them for the Puck L.

If it was I'll give them a ring, my younger son is at Edinburgh University so I could drop in to them next time I'm up there.

Hi Randa,
Do you know if this was a 310/320? or another model ? I have a 2002 310 that could do real nice with this replacement cover - just wondering if this particular cover manufactured by the Engineering Co. would suit mine.
Thank you in anticipation.

Thanks Frantone,

I was hoping you were going to say that you were now all Alloy! I'll give Jandi a ring tomorrow and see what's available.

I have set up a new thread referring to this problem on a Triton 430 2013. The solution I have is available if you can PM me.
