Adventure Leisure Vehicles at Tebay Cumbria, formerly Airstream and Company. L Late 2014 I purchased a new Hymer Eriba from this company with 2 years warranty. Lots of small problems all “fixed” with poor quality service and workmanship. Early 2016 a razor sharp chrome main door handle and corroded cupboard hinges required replacing under warranty. Five months of repeated requests eventually replaced the door handle, but they had forgotten to stock hinges,so a 320 mile round trip was a waste. Seven months of false promises and lies, before I received some hinges in the post. Asking Hymer Germany for help proved worthless, but they did confirm that their warranty only covered manufacturing faults and they agreed with the dealer that “ cosmetic” faults such as chromework relied on the dealer GOODWILL. What is included under the term Cosmetic I wonder. Take nothing for granted ,get everything in writing. I have been a trusting fool. Having had my money, a warranty seemed to be an inconvenience, customer care and repeat business was furthest from their minds. Having been Airstream and Company I wonder why Airstream USA did not include them in their future plans. The caravan has now been sold for a considerable loss as I have lost all faith in the dealer and the brand.

I was considering buying from ALV in Cumbria but decided not to as they couldn't supply a new GT spec Troll and instead tried to fob me off with a standard van which would be upgraded (as far as they were able and without silver finish) in-house by their workshop. Based on the complete lack of support and incompetence you describe, thank goodness I didn't go ahead!!! Instead I bought a 2018 GT Troll from AL Bournemouth although I won't get it until September.
Which model did you have all the trouble with? Sounds ominous that you also had poor support from Hymer. I wonder if others on here have had such bad experiences?

Rob,
I have owned Eribas since 2003, four vans in all. I have dealt with Jandi (brilliant) and Automotive Leisure (good but expensive) for parts.
Adventure Leisure sent me details on vans a year or so ago, taking the time and trouble to send one off photos to answer questions even though I had made it clear I was not in a position to buy.
Last June I ordered from Lowdhams in Nottingham. The price was excellent but the service a bit hit and miss.
I have dealt with Hymer directly in 2012? and was very impressed.
I attempted to deal with them in 2016 and was appalled at the lack of reply to e-mails.
The whole affair with Eriba dealers and Hymer directly seems to be variable. Like most things in life really.

The warranty is stepped, the first year comprehensive where as the second year carries a wear and tear exemption. I had a cracked side light housing and A frame cover which were changed out in the first year without any issues, the dealer was Lowdhams in Huddersfield.
1st year is comprehensive and includes all original fit components.
2nd year excludes tyres, glass, paint& brightwork, soft furnishings, carpets floor coverings, work surfaces, window catches, electrical connections, natural movement of internal doors and furniture, audio equipment.
When I go on holiday I like to pop my top!

Bit dismayed reading this thread. We bought our Troll 540GT from AL last year and had great service from Cameron. Our plan was to take it back to AL for its first service, combining this with a weeks holiday. (It takes us nearly 6 hours to drive to Poole). However found out in April that my dodgy hips need replacing, with the first operation in July, and the thought of the long drive was daunting in my current condition. We have therefore booked in to Adventure Leisure Vehicle in Tebay for our first service, as it is only just over an hours drive. We talked to them at the Manchester Show and they seemed OK. I hope that our experience will be like gwte and not Jayfour's. I will post again on line in mid-June after the service has been done,

I'm not taking sides for either AL Poole or AL Tebay, as I've not had any servicing or repairs carried out by either.
However, as an Eriba owner for eleven years and member of the various forums prior to purchasing, the spread of views on the various dealers past and present goes from one end of the spectrum to the other.
I bought our van from Lechlade, and had no issues or problems with the company or staff. Others agreed, but here are a number of owners who absolutely slated them, and would comment almost violently on any occasion they could.
I'm not saying the OP's comments are not true in any way, but they may have had a bad experience in this particular case.
Hopefully when you visit, all will be well, and good luck with the hip.
As a by the way, the only 'dealers' I've not really heard any bad reports on are Dom in Norfolk, and the chap in Barrowford, Lancashire. Unfortunately I don't think either does servicing.
Cheers mark

Out of interest, did you get a good quality of service?

Yes we did and we were very impressed with the whole set up. They had a few things to do and made a good job of all of them.
Proof of the pudding and all that .......... we have booked in again for our next service which is in August. When we contacted them again they were as friendly and helpful as before. MikeT

Interesting as I found them a bit wanting when I was looking to purchase a new van plus I have since heard a few horror stories about them... ah well, I guess a lot of it is pot luck...
