Entrance door hold-back catch

One of the most frustrating things for me about the Eriba is the useless plastic catch that is supposed to hold the opened door against the caravan side. To date I have fitted three new catches and each has quickly failed despite having had little use. One of the problems could be that the retaining clip is badly positioned on the caravan side.

In desperation this year I tried sticking a piece of insulating tape over the door 'prong' to thicken it out a bit and, to my surprise, it worked. The slight increase in thickness made the catches click together positively holding the door firmly in place. It lasted a whole month, still works fine and will be easy to repair when the tape eventually wears or falls off.

Dead simple; dead effective.

While I'm on the subject of entrance doors, I'm pleased to report that my repair to the striker plate (in which I bonded a small piece of alloy to it so that the door now closes firmly against its seal) has been a total success despite my lack of confidence in adhesive technology.

We've given up on ours and now use a "tie back" to the front push handle.

We have two rubber hoops for guy ropes https://www.worldofcamping.co.uk/outwell...2d3&fo_s=gplauk
with a suitable length guy rope tied between them.

Loop one end around the front handle and, when needed, hook the other end over the opened door inside door knob. Simples and storm proof.
