Canvas or Sunbrella?

I was trying to assist on Eribafolk FB regarding which waterproof product to use on the poptop. I recommend 303 Fabric guard as it's made from Sunbrella. However it was suggested that during the 1980/90s they used canvas and Fabsil can be used.
I never knew they used canvas for a few years, if this is the case I would assume it will be very difficult to identity in order to use the right product?

Interesting ! We've always used 303 Fabric Guard on ours (1999 Model) and it seems to be working very well.

By the way you've phrased your question John, does it mean that Fabsil is a "lesser" product than Fabric Guard?

Hi Roger, Fabsil is silicon based which can damage the stain resistance in the Sunbrella acrylic canvas.

Our Troll is a 2016 - should I be considering waterproofing the pop top sides?

I have never even thought of doing it yet as they appear to be still perfectly waterproof. MikeT

I'd leave well alone. My 2006 Familia was still fine when I sold it in 2016. I'd averaged 4/5 weeks a year in the 6 suumers I'd owned it and I believe the previous owner ran at atleast double my useage. So 40/50 weeks of use and still fully waterproof.

It will be fine, just be careful when washing the van, detergents can strip the waterproofing..
