Hi

Now we have retired we are coming back to Eribas and are buying a Triton 430. We have been looking at a Kampa Pop-Air 'cos it looks like it's easy to put up and quite robust. The only thing is the size - Kampa say the Pop Air Pro 340 is the right size but it has a width of 340cm when the awning rail on the Triton is really only 300cm if you go round the bend Does anyone know if the Pop Air Pro 290 would be a better fit ???

Welcome Sue. The 340 is the correct awning for your Triton. The size is based on the floor dimension and not the rail length.
If the Triton you are buying is a post 2010 model then you must buy one of the 2019 onwards models. Do not be tempted by a deal on an earlier model.
If you need an awning then this is a good overall compromise on price, quality etc. Yes it is heavy to get into the awning track but that's about the only drawback. Do not buy the Kampa gutter strip, get the Seals Direct version. The storm straps are a no and the model specific breathable awning carpet is excellent.

Hi

Thanks for your help, we were beginning to get ourselves in knots about sizes and were concerned about wasting our hard won pension!

As per your advice we will avoid the Kampa extras and look at your suggestions.

Thanks

Hi Sue and welcome to the site

As usual good advice from Colin, especially about getting the post 2019 model if you have a newer model Triton 330 - they are a much better fit than the original Pop air (which we have) I believe the ventilation is better as well in the newer one and it can take a zipped on canopy and has the potential to add a small side sleeping area, if you have grandchildren.

Yes the awning is a bit heavy to put on the rail but you kind of find your own easiest way to put up. Kath & I have a small stool and a set of little steps to help us. We now always start at the door end and work backwards - it seems to work easier for us. We also put a bit of silicon spray into the guttering to help the bit that goes in the rail slide (sorry I don't have good recollection of technical terms).

Also get yourself some Isabella rail stops (again not what really called) that go into the end of your rail where the awning ends and just stop the awning from sliding along - I'm sure someone on here will tell you their proper name.

We have the carpet for our Troll and it works well. We have their gutter strip and it was a nightmare at first but their is a technique that you learn and we now have it cracked. However people in the know reckon that the Seals Direct one is easier to get on.

We have had some good and less good experiences with our PopAir but overall it is a good addition for long stays and has been very robust in some very strong winds. However for short stays we don't bother with it at all and simply put up an Isabella Sun Canopy that goes up in 5 minutes and provides some cover from the wet. A lot of Forum members have them.

Good luck and enjoy your Triton - it is what retirement was designed for.........................

Hi

Thanks for this, we had heard about these Isabella stops and can see why they would be a good idea. Picking the new Triton up in a few days can't wait to start playing with in on the drive.

Have fun - I'm sure that you will. We can still remember our excitement, and a bit of nervousness, when we went to collect our Troll from AL
