Propex water heater fitted

Propex 10 litre electric heater under back bench, fitted just before Christmas. Now got hot and cold water to new mixer shower in bathroom and new tap in kitchen sink.
The water inlet has been moved to bathroom side of the van - new whale pump and a 240v socket where the old inlet was.
Very happy with installation. Now like us all need to get out in van!
Best, Stan

Lovely job. Hot water is so nice in the van, although we all know others feel differently.

Hi Stan. A great job but I'm going to put you on the spot here.

Would you consider writing a pictorial thread about how you did it, for the Detailed "How to" guides for improving or repairing your Eriba page? It would be very useful to others and might perhaps give them the courage to try it themselves.

Thanks chaps!
Randa, I'm afraid that may be difficult as I didn't do the installation! It's taken me a while to find a service engineer I could trust to do the job exactly as I wanted. I would really recommend him and can pass on his details to anyone who is considering putting a hot water system into their Eriba. And appreciate that many owners don't want to. We managed fine over summer with site facilities and a kettle. It's just something we've been thinking about for a while.

No problem Stan but if you'd like to give him a mention then please do so

Looks a great job Stan - you seem to have found a decent engineer to do the job.

I used to dismiss the need for hot water in the van and didn't use the boiler for a couple of years. However Kath has persuaded me of its virtues, especially in the morning, and I am now a hot water in van convert.

We tend only to go to small sites. I've enjoyed using the site facilities at camping and caravanning CSs most of which are geared up for proper camping.
I did consider a gas and electric system so could go to places without EHU but couldn't find anything compatible with steel gas pipes and some options were extremely expensive. Dual fuel would have been more flexible but if no EHU it'll be a pan on the hob!
It was installed by Kurt Bauwens. His website is:

Do you have a separate large cold water tank now or just fill the hot tank and small cold tank separately?

Steve, I used to have a 40 litre aquaroll sitting outside which supplied the kitchen tap via submersible pump. Another water container with submersible pump sat in the bathroom cupboard and supplied the bathroom tap. I don't know if this is standard fitment for a Triton 430.
Now all water enters the van via the aquaroll which has been resited to the other side.

Stan,
I believe your previous system had been adapted over the years. The norm was a plastic cannister under the bathroom basin and another under the kitchen sink. When the Aquaroll fitment had been carried out I believe it was normal to remove them both. I'm guessing your old set-up had an advantage in that if you stopped off overnight you could dispense with the Aquaroll and still have a water supply in the van from the bathroom.
I have had three hot water sytems:-
- 552 factory fit 5L Truma electric , 40L onboard tank
- 310 self fit 6L Propex electric , 50L onboard tank
- 340 factory fit 5L Truma electric, 37L onboard tank and exterior pump fill from aquaroll [never used]

You will have noticed I prefer the onboard tank, but we are all different and there's nothing wrong with that. There are even owners who still have not discovered hot water, but that's another deabte and even more contentious than an awning or not.

Having running water in the bathroom at all times was handy. But now the water cannister is gone there's loads of room to store bogroll!
