Hi,
It’s spring and just getting the Eriba 542 GT out for a warm up but the flush is not working. As the fuse has well and truly blown the leading suspect is the pump.
But can I get the …. thing out. Ive struggled for 3 hours and had to give up. The tube to the pump is one of those reinforced hoses. Incredibly stiff. And I just cant get a purchase to get it out.

Any suggestions greatly received.

Try giving the pump a whack, often it's a small build up of limescale that just needs dislodging.

Lol usually the best advice hit with a hammer! But the pump is well out of reach!

Thetford's Repair Video

With a pair of rubber gloves, grab the pump's cable and pull steadily - it will come!

Take note of exactly where the pump's located in the flush tank because you need to relocate the new one down there.

You'll need to crimp the new pump's wires to the original's wires (and sleeve with heat shrink) so don't cut them too close to the connector.

Cut about 5mm off the pump end of the flush tube so it's a tighter fit on the new pump.

Either replace with a branded Thetford pump for thirty-odd quid, or a Comet pump for less than half the price.

(The Thetford pump is a rebadged Comet pump anyway)

Had same problem with toilet flush pump, fuse had blown so replaced it but still not working.
I got my hand into the tank but pipe was too stiff so tried to pull the feed wire and out
came the pump, impeller was stuck, sprayed with WD40 and soon had it spinning, thinking
about winter storage may try mix of water and antifreeze same as the car.

Thanks have decided to not use the pink in the cistern. So have cleaned out the cistern with puriclean . This has removed all the black bits and slime in the tank.
So its pure water from now on. And drain very time we move.

Had exactly same problem last week while away and the 3A fuse had blown, clipped out the plastic end of the pipe as it enters the toilet basin at the top and easily pulled the pump up via the attached pipe.

Pump was seized from the dreaded Pink stuff, spun the impeller around with a screwdriver to free up then ran some detergent and warm water to run it in then tested in bowl of water, a good clean up and all is good again.
