Hi Peter. Yes, the 540 is very popular because of the long beds and front dinette.

If that one is a bit above what you'd wish to pay then they come up regularly for resale and age isn't really a factor. In fact the newer the model the greater the depreciation.

Hi again Peter

We used Tebay for our warranty servicing on our Troll and we always found them friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

For the first couple of years Mike (the big boss) used to give us a lot of light-hearted banter about us buying our van through Cameron in Poole rather than them but he gradually grew out of it.

As we are from Clitheroe we often used to stay at the Kendal C & C Club site or at Meathop Fell for a couple of nights whilst they serviced the van.

Best wishes
Mike

Hi Peter

THis 540 has just come up for sale on our Eribafolk Facebook Group. A new member to us so don't know of the history.

In today's climate, it's expensive but it does show you what you can get in the used market at a fraction of the price of newer models..

If you need more information perhaps Steve of Steve and Debbie or Eribamotters Colin could further assist you. There are many more pics of the van on Facebook.

Eriba Troll GT/540-LMT 2006 £11950
We are selling our beloved Eriba, this is a real head turner wherever you go for its style and condition. We have always stored this in a warehouse unit when not in use and was told that the previous owner also did the same. The underneath reflects this with no sign of and weathering to the flooring or any trace of underseal covering up any rot. Some of the trims still have the plastic film from the factory fitted. This is in excellent condition showing only light wear.
One of the reasons we liked this configuration is that we had the option to keep the double bed setup and our meals at the front in the area which can convert to a single bed. I have also made a set of legs for the dining table so it can either fit onto the side of the caravan as standard or with the extra set of shorter legs free stand wherever you wish.
This is a dream to tow and manoeuvre we mainly used a VW transporter but the VW golf had no problems either. There is a white fibre glass patch on the roof where it has been damaged at some point, It is only visible from above.

There's also this one. Must be South of England. Again a bit pricy.

Barry Ford
We are selling our 2015 540gt.
It's in great condition for a nearly 10 year old van.
We absolutely love it but we've only used it a handful of times in 2 years.
4 dogs and motorcycle touring has us pretty much tied up.
This van is the GT version and has numerous factory options added.
Check out all the pictures.
This van is a 3 Berth.
We have a Kampa Dometic 365 air awning which includes a bedroom and sun canopy which is not listed below.
It's been used 3 times and like new.
Cost us £1300.00
We also have Duvalay bedding included with fitted sheets.
Super expensive to buy.
Everything like new.
It needs a dealer service so the price reflects this.
We are looking for 18k for everything.
Lots and lots of extras.
It's in storage so interested parties only please.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for those two, I'd seen the first one.
Tow bar will be fitted next month and then we'll be in the position to go looking around.
Ref price, I guess that when you get to 20 years old the condition is really important when setting the price - and whether stored outside and in?

One other quick enquiry:
I believe that the washroom design changed around 2014? I've only seen the later ones. Any thoughts about which version is best?

Thanks

Peter

The size of the bathroom has not really changed. Whichever model and year you buy it is small. Over the years the cabinets and fitments changed, but the big change is in the cabinetwork of the caravan.
Up until 2010 when production finished in France and moved to Germany the cabinetwork was made out of a better quality plywood with better hinges. An interim period of about 2010 to 2014 ensued when the interior design changed but quality of cabinetwork seems to be good. Post 2014 it went downhill. Cheaper lightweight and low density plywood was introduced that seems incapable of holding in place the cheap and nasty hinges now being used. Cupboard doors working loose are a common occurrence, as are bathroom doors flying off during transit. The only blessing is by now the original owner will have probably sorted out the issues.
Some generalisations:-
Vans built prior to 2000 are generally very well engineered.
Vans from 2000 to 2006 are possibly a notch down, but we are splitting hairs. The white top of silver bottom GT exterior is also smarter.
Vans from 2006 to 2010 as above, but with a very smart interior as well as exterior.
Vans from 2010 to 2014 seem to be very good but lack the white over silver exterior
Vans from 2014 to 2024 are in some cases an absolute embarrassment and need to be inspected with great care.

Another option would be to look for an Eriba Feeling. These are a flat sided pop top that lacks the visual charm of the Tourings, but are extremely well put together. After owning 4 Tourings I moved to a Feeling in 2023. As much as I love the looks of the Tourings I could not bring myself or my wallet to get another.
