Water pooling on front right window ledge - places to check?

Hi everyone, I have a 1999 troll, during the recent rainy weather I noticed a wet patch on the front window ledge. I think I can see a darker patch up the wall diagonally from the right hand side from under the right wall top locker. Where are the likely culprits for water ingress in that area? I’m thinking awning rail or the high indicator light perhaps? Any suggestions as to how to fix? The window feels dry and the seals look good. The water was there after rain over night whilst camped but then I towed it home in the rain with the roof down and there was no water- so I’m thinking it’s pooling somewhere and getting in.

I agree that the top side marker light could be the problem and the best place to start.

Never done a repair there only changed a light bulb but it must be screwed in there somehow and have a gasket.
Also, does your van have awning pole fixings screwed to the awning rail? Another thing to look at. Remove the two screws and refix them using a thin bed of mastic.

Thank you, it doesn’t have the awning pole fixings so I will try the light. I also noticed that water was pooling in the awning rail at the front a bit so perhaps my level
wasn’t right (was in a festival field). I might also try the zip tie trick in the awning rail to divert the water from the van front.

My previous Triton leaked through the awning rail and the water pooled on the front window ledge. I renewed the entire mastic for the whole awning rail. Not a small job... It did fix the leak though!! I had previously renewed the mastic on the front upper side light, so I knew it wasn't that.

Good luck, Simon

Thank you, would that be unscrewing and removing the awning rail, scraping off the mastic and then reapplying it before putting the awning rail back on? Did you use mastic or sikaflex please?

I used mastic - you can buy it on a roll the correct width (45mm). It's a tricky job to do on your own... I remember there's a thread on here somewhere written by someone who had done it. That's what I used for guidance. I'll search and add it below...

Where the leak has happened you can generally pull the mastic off easily. Rusted screw heads are also a sign - so it's worth checking behind the herzim infill strip before tackling a complete re-masticing. I changed all the screws to stainless whilst I was doing it (my policy on all Eriba trim screws).

On my Triton they were 2.9 thread width x 22mm. Possibly no.4 size. The originals were self-piercing type (to cut into the steel frame), but the replacements don't need to be. These are the ones I bought:

Be careful, because not all sellers seem to get the sizes right... I have received screws that are smaller than the stated size a few times - and vice versa. The head needs to be the right size too - 5.5mm diameter maximum - or they won't sit deep enough in the metal profile..

The photos of two screws together shows an original plus the replacement.
