Hello and help, please.
Hello and help, please.
in Hi. Please take a couple of minutes to say hello here Today 9:54 amby Kelvin Pawsey •

Hello from a very proud owner of a 1980 Puck. We've owned it for almost two years and I'm now hoping to make a replacement metal gas locker that was missing. I'm going to dive in with with some questions, if that's okay? Could someone please let me know how the lock at the top works and does it have anything to do with the hole on the top of the gas bottle support frame? I'd love to see some photos of inside if anyone has some. Also, if anyone has dimensions for the cover, that would be amazing! We absolutely adore our Puck and would love to have it complete, even if it's a homemade affair. Apologies if I don't reply quickly, we have a new addition to our camping family who takes up a lot of time and energy! Thank you from four happy campers. Kelvin. Kent. UK.

Hi Kelvin and weocme to Eribafolk I've just looked t soem pof the brochures from around 1980 but there are no photos. What is strnge though and it can be seen on this 1980s link https://files.homepagemodules.de/b614104...22_gPdrMBvO.pdf is that the spec diagrams for the Puck don't show a gas locker whereas the bigger models do.
Do you have a pic?
Randa

Hopefully there should be photos attached?! We only have the cradle for the gas canister and not the metal box that covers it. I've worked out that it must have been the old style metal version and not the fibreglass, because it has fixing brackets on the bottom. I'd love to see some photos of inside the box to see how the lock works. Many thanks.

Darren, the chap who runs retrocaravanstuff.com, is very much into his older Eribas - he runs a 1979 Puck himself - and has been happy to solve some questions I have asked him. He's a Brit living in France, by the way. He sells a new fibreglass replacement gas locker, but has a different style on his own Eriba, so he might have some information that would be useful? There's a lot of info in his "Eriba Blog and How To Guides" section of the website.
If you look at the twilight photo, you can see that the whole metal cover on his Puck seems to lift off to access the gas. i.e. no lid?It doesn't look too much of a problem to manufacture one that does have an opening lid. I made one myself many years ago for a folding camper I had.

and this slightly later one one has a metal box - the top is clearly pop-riveted on. That was for sale at Kool Classics 10 years ago (video on Youtube) - they also sell a replacement fibreglass front box now on their website, although they might also have some more info for you on a metal box?
I seem to recall that there was a post on here in the last year about a company near Cambridge that restores older Eribas from frame up? Again might be worth an ask... I'll post their details here if I can find them.
Here it is:
Classic Eriba Repairs Cambridgeshire.

Presumably you mean 'Cambs Eribas' Simon. They used to be at Duxford but are now based near Sudbury. I think their only presence on the internet is a Facebook page...

Yes - I have been searching for them - there is a presence, but I don't know how reliable it is... Now called, as you say, Camb's Eribas.
Here's a picture of one they restored with a metal gas locker
I have heard mixed reviews of them - can be "deliverers of bad news" it seems. But might be OK with a metal gas locker? Buyer beware, etc.

Here's a mid 70s Puck for sale now (on Ebay) with metal locker - It's in Shoreham-on-Sea if you're nearby to visit it? It looks like the hole on the top in the middle is some kind of catch/lock mechanism as you thought, but photos aren't high res enough for a better understanding... There's another (a Triton, but same age) in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.
