Finding stamped number on chassis rail

The vin number on older vans was always on a plate on the outside, to the side of the entrance door. On post 2010/12 it vans it should be found inside the gas locker. 4 - vehicle plate in locker-1600.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)
You will also find a small plate attached to the axle. . P1020878-1600.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)
These examples are from my now sold 2017 Triton 430.

I'm wondering what makes you think there is one stamped on the chassis? The reason for the plates is to ID the van for servicing and enforcement. The latter won't crawl around under the floor and look for anything under the van, unless there's a a safety condition issue. They certainly won't be looking for VIN numbers there.

Who is asking for this? I'm guessing you are trying to get insurance and the company/broker wants this information. On a UK van it may well be the norm to have a chassis plate with the information on it, but this is not the case with an Eriba. All the information they require is the sticker/plate in the gas locker.I'm assuming they put it there as it is more secure and less likely to tampering as it is behind a locked door.
On my current van, and Eriba Feeling , I do have some details on the chassis that are visible just inside the slot for the handbrake.

There were stamped details on the drawbar of my "old" 2005 430 Triton (photo attached). It can be found by removing the plastic front part of the A-frame cover. You can see it disappears under the front edge of the "checker plate" metal section. Not sure how it will help, though it looks like there's a serial number at the bottom of the list. I have no idea if it's in the same place on more recent Eribas...

Our Knott- chassis van is brimming with plates; there’s the sticker next to the door, an aluminium plate on the draw-bar near the hitch, and another plate on the axle itself.
I haven’t looked at the detail but I assume the axle plate doesn’t include the VIN number.

The axle plate will probably have the axle weight limit on it, which will match the limit on the mandatory plate. It may have all sorts of other stuff that's unlikely to mean anything to a layman. The hitch area usually has its weight limit shown somewhere on it but again that will be shown on the legally required VIN plate. The only plate that enforcement officers are interested in is the one that complies with international standards showing VIn number, Type Approval permit details, MTPLM and axle limits. Anything else on a plate is extra and has to be separated from the legally required information by a horizontal line.

I'm trying to register our Troll and been informed by CRIS that it's not been registered before. I filled in their import form and supplied them with all the things they asked for then received this request:
Good Morning
Thank you for sending the Import Registration Form and supporting documentation.
Please can you provide the following :
Photo of Chassis stamping showing the 17 Digit VIN clearly, located on the offside rail.
Once received I will then be able to further process your registration.
I've had an initial look and can't find anything, it's now raining so will have to wait!

There may be stuff from Alko on the chassis used to identify the parts. The chassis are usually bolted together at the start of the production process using a range of pieces of frame that depends on the shape/size of van being made. Presumably Knott chassis are similar in that respect.

IIRC all VIN numbers are 17 digit and a picture of the mandatory plate should be all they need. Given that Eriba Tourings have been going for decades, through lots of different changes in factory, country of production, chassis maker etc CRIS may well be quoting info that isn't relevant to your particular van. CRIS is a subsidiary of the NCC, the trade association of the UK leisure vehicle industry. As such Hymer gmbh is not a member of the NCC whilst Hymer UK (Elddis etc) are members. Members are committed to ensure all their products are CRIS registered from birth.
