Hi all. My 540 Touring (2023) comes with a Knott KS25 hitch. Long story but the two friction pads became contaminated with grease and need replacing. It's an easy job but the OEM pads are very expensive. Has anyone had experience of using the "compatible" pads available on fleabay which are about half the price?

I don;t know the Knott hitch set up, I'm afraid, but could you try popping the contaminated pads into a pan of boiling water with some deteregent in it to de-conaminate them? That is what I have been known to do with similarly contaminated brake shoes on vinatge cars. Has proved quite successful?
