Saturday lie-in

I had a lie-in this morning, the first in goodness knows how long, and didn't rise until 10am. That's the good news. The bad news is that my OH also had a lie-in and as a result I missed my early morning cuppa. Lying there fuming, thinking when is she going to get up but not daring to say anything, my mind wondered back to the mid seventies when next to the bed we had a tea making machine. Anyone else remember those? If not, then you filled one pot with water, placed the exit tube from this into the second pot where tea/tea bags had already been placed, set the alarm, and the following morning you got woken up to the sound of hissing and bubbling as the water in the first post boiled off and the resulting steam vented off via the exit tube into the second pot where it changed state into boiling water and hey presto - a lovely morning cuppa.

With my mind continuing to wonder, and her in-doors still snoring like a real trooper, I thought what a luxury this would be if we could set up the same arrangement with our van. We wouldn't want to disturb the neighbours of course so couldn't set the alarm for the tea making process too early, after all they'd all probably just managed to get to sleep after being kept up half the night by our newly acquired smoke/gas alarm.

Anyway, at this point the OH, partly suffocating as a result of my sticking a sock in her mouth finally woke up and dutifully made the tea and because it's Saturday also threw in a few rounds of toast. Burnt toast of course but I can't fault her for trying. I then put the idea of a tea making machine to her and any thoughts of perhaps quietly sneaking back to bed for another few z's were quickly dispersed. Wonderful idea she said, but I've never seen such a thing here in Germany. So my dear forum friends, help me out here - do they still make these things.
Alan

You'll be thinking about one of these, a Goblin Teasmade.

You can still get automatic tea makers.

Do they not have Google in Germany?

Our daughter has been dropping hints about wanting a teamaker for Christmas for a couple of weeks now.

I can see the attraction as I've hurt my leg kicking Mrs Graculus out of bed in the morning when tea-lack becomes unbearable.

Yes you tell 'em mate. It's good to hear from you. It's nice to talk. If everyone used Google wouldn't this planet be a boring, very quiet place?

Sorry Dad

This isn't talking. Talking is a different thing altogether.

What would your planet be like if everyone talked on the Internet?

So ner

And anyhow please advise how you get Mrs F to:

1 Make a decent cup of tea
2 Bring the correct biscuits for dunking
3 Move herself out of bed before yourself

We've been married for 37 years (I'm told) and I've not yet been able to get Mrs SDA to do any of these things

Crumbs in the bed. Unacceptable.

I can only assume you are one of those depressingly uncultured individuals who drinks tea from a mug.

Bah.

No crumbs if dunked with skill and perfect timing.

Tea cup and saucer de rigeur given the need for biscuit perching.

Moral - never judge a mug by his mug.
