I just rang them, it can take several weeks to process, I may give it a go as the savings with been able to use other insurance companies out ways the nuisance of registering.

That was my thinking as well. I'll have a much greater choice of insurers next year.

Old thread I know! I've just bought a 2019 Eriba from a dealer and upon trying to register the number it appears it's not in the CRIS database.
I'm thinking it might be worth the trouble to do this as although buying from a dealer takes away the worry I may eventually sell it myself and I can imagine a prospective purchaser asking questions - I would!
So I think I'll register it......

This is a very old thread and CRIS registration has been covered in great detail both here and on the Facebook page.
I would not bother, the scheme was designed for UK vans and your Eriba is a German [French for earlier models] creation.
I have owned 5 Eriba's since 2003, bought new and used, from dealers and privately, from UK and Belgium. I have never had an issue selling them to dealers or private individuals and always found competitive insurance. Non of my Eriba's have been CRIS registered. You do not need to bother.

I wouldn’t bother registering the Eriba if it is just for resale reasons, all non UK vans are not automatically CRiS registered.
However it is worth registering as a peace of mind to help the police identify its ownership and return in the event it is stolen. Some UK insurance companies will require the van to be CRiS registered, it can be in the small print even if you manage to purchase the insurance and your van isn’t CRiS registered so it’s always best to ask the insurance company if it is a requirement.
Caravan Guard insurance requires it as a part of its claim policy, see the attached info

Here is a thread where an Eriba owner was refused a claim because it was not CRiS registered and

In a pickle with CRIS...
