White mouldings/plates under van

It's not too often that I go scrabbling around under the caravan but having taken an extra dose of inspection pills last weekend prior to giving our hopefully future 524 the close eye, I thought it prudent to have a look at what the condition underneath looks like.

Looking in the vicinity of the front legs (I wanted to see whether or not the threads had been lubricated or not) I discovered 2 white plastic mouldings/plates attached underneath. These might well have been repeated at the back end but I got distracted along the line and never got around to looking. Anyway, the dealer was as perplexed as I was and had literally no idea for what purpose they are intended (or had been intended). I got to wondering whether or not they were pieces that attached to the jig during the construction process e.g. when the van is located on the band still without axle and wheels etc but other than that, no idea.

Anyone else have these on their van and know what they are for?

Ah ha so that's what they are - thanks a lot for that. Seeing your picture I've just taken a quick look-see in our 430 Manual (German) and yes, there are the wheel chocks sitting nicely in these cradles. The only thing is, our current 430 doesn't have these cradles attached underneath and the wheel chocks themselves are all smooth-sided i.e. no clipping arrangement etc. It appears that we've been diddled.

By the way, are you happy to leave yours located there during travel e.g. are they secure and you have no concerns that some tea leaf will make off with them?

You might also want to enlighten your dealer!

They were there for several months before I found them and I have never used them, as far as I know they are still there but I have not checked for some time.

You realise you will now be responsible for dozens of members crawling under vans to see if they have any.

Maybe you should organise a group crawl at the next meet.

rushing off to crawl under mine - just to check, however I know where my Chocs are - I left them at the last site I stayed and luckily got someone to Facebook a friend staying opposite to where I was who picked them up and has hold of them until I meet up at another venue.
