guys

I don't know if I mention that whilst out in India last week I had a fall damaging my left leg.
Well I saw my GP on Tuesday, Consultant on Wednesday morning (I have BUPA through my firm) and operated on by 16:00 same afternoon.
I've ruptured the quadriceps tendon in my left knee which after a hours surgery has been stitched back together.
I've a nice, though not yet seen 4inch cut north south over the knee held together with staples.
I'm in a full fixed leg brace and on crutches until I get back to see the surgeon 8th January when another brace fitted that will over weeks / months move my leg through 90degrees and hopefully back to normal.
I've been told minimum time to recover is 8 weeks but normally closer to 12.

Cheers
David

Blimey David. It must have been some fall !! How on earth did you get around on it between the accident and arriving back in Blighty?
Take it easy and hope you recover soon.

A bloke across the road from me has had both knees done,
and still goes weight training. You will be fine!

If you'd done this a few years ago David, and in Singapore not India, we could have gone racing together. Wish you a speedy recovery.

Good gracious David, but good to hear you on the mend. If it's any help on recovery times,I was reminded this morning by Carole, when I was complaining about lack of dexterity in my fingers, while wrapping pressies. Her comment was that if all I have to worry about after what I have had wrong this year, I was doing OK. The fingers having been fractured and well mashed are still a b*o*d* nuisance. My main and only, very very small complaint against our superb NHS and I have had 5 months as their guest was that they only dressed the fingers when a treatment could have been better.
The orthopaedic consultant said I would never run again and as for walking, maybe 100yds from the car and back would be my limit.
Well I proved him wrong on the latter, did a mile and half last Saturday and I am not really bothered whether I run again at my tender age of 74.
Two fractured legs, three skull fractures a punctured lung and the fingers was my list and virtually all sorted now except as I say - the fingers.
Being fit beforehand, as indeed you must be and I was, helped a lot, the running was good for me I know, but??
Best of luck with your recovery.
Cheers, Derek

Derek. Best wishes to both you and David (oh and good advice from Carole too )

The big question is, can you and David still Hokycokey?

That is, after all, ''what it's all about''

Happy Christmas to you both, keep that recovery going.

Don't want to tempt fate, but I feel short changed. I was in on Wednesday morning and out, minus a kidney, on the Friday lunchtime. No time to get used to the regime or even the names of the nurses.
