13 Pin Plugs and Sockets (adaptors as well)

My first eriba was a Puck L 230GT, it came with a 13 Pin Plug, my car had two 7 Pin sockets.
An adaptor was required, this took the form of two plugs, one black one grey each on its own
cable which then terminated in a 13 pin socket that accepted the Eribas 13 pin Plug.
Today I have a 13 Pin Socket on the car and two 7 Pin plugs on the Eriba (a 2002 Troll) this
requires the second type of adaptor , a two cable 13 Pin plug and two 7 pin (one Grey one Black)
Thirteen pin plugs and sockets are superior to the old seven pin units but they must carry the heavier
2.5mm earth cables. There is a pin alignment tool which everyone should carry or have attached to the
A frame, and here's an explanation of its use.

Interesting stuff Rod, Just fitted a new towbar with 13 pin electrics to the new car last week to match the triton...............as the man said it didn't come with the tool so I just ordered one from your link.

Thanks

That really is a 'top tip', Rod, and thanks for posting.

Having read the explanatory article, I've just ordered my own green wotsit through Amazon.

A better plan is to change the vans cable to suit the car
this is a simple job
the cable(s) run back to a box under the van in which there is a terminal block
remove the old cable(s) and plug in the new using the wiring code diagram in your hand book and reseal the entry hole
tie the cable to the chassis
ready made cable(s) should be available from Ereba dealers

The green wotsit that I ordered yesterday morning arrived this lunchtime so 10 out of 10 to 'The Tool Box' for prompt delivery.

Although the 13-pin plug lives upside down in the drawbar bracket under the hitch cover (nah nah na nah na to M. le Pew), I still think it's a good idea to seal it if only to keep spiders from nesting inside.

I'm going to wait until you've drilled the necessary holes in yours, Tony, before making a decision about mine!

would it fit in the 2 holes next to the jocky wheel with a certain sized piece of wood to fix in place?
saves cracking the fairing

I think I would prefer to fit it on the side so it does not fill with water or muck!

Well with you lot all wanting a 'green wotsit' I felt a bit left out and so attempted to order one also. The only trouble being that the outlet I came across on Amazon - Tool Box - don't ship to Europe. However, following a short telephone call with a very helpful lady followed up by a confirmatory email has resulted in one of these 'green wotsits' winging it's way over here. So yes, I concur, 10 out of 10 to Tool Box. What say you all to having a 'green wotsit' party - you show me yours and I'll show you mine sort of thing. Mine will obviously win of course as it'll be bigger and better, but more importantly perhaps - greener.

Not wishing to add the jarring note of a discordant colour to my Al-Ko hitch I shall wait 'til this tidal wave of greenism abates and the makers realise the massive pent up demand for 'sun faded red, well almost clear actually' to match the rest of the hitch.
