Flimsy plastic piece around the handbrake

Hi , has anybody found a better solution to replace the flimsy plastic covering ( moulding ) that goes around the front hitch / handbrake area on eriba 540 gt ,as this is second caravan and both have now split , could they not be made of something more fit for purpose ,check plate or similar ?. Thanks ,

Anthony, I'm on my 4th Eriba, current model a 2017 bought new. I have repaired the plastic trim you mention on the last two vans where they have split. This has usually entailed drilling a 4mm hole at the end of the split, cleaning the underside of the trim and fixing a support using araldite. The support has been either a piece of iroko [poor mans teak] or in the case of where the plastic trim joins the aluminium a piece of plastic cut from a facia board and heat bent to a twisted supporting profile. I made these repairs when current van was only a year old. I could have had the trim replaced under warranty but it would break again whereas my repair has stayed intact.

I seem to remember that on another forum someone had one made from S/Steel by a local fabricator.

Is there any chance of having a photo where the split is and perhaps then I could stop it from happening in the first place as I've just took delivery of our first Eriba.
