Happy to report that we were able to remove the sticky mess off our windows with toothpaste, it took a while and did the job well. We also cleaned the fridge vents with duraglit as they looked faded as did the awning light cover. Again this worked really well. What we found most amazing was that when we tried duraglit on the rubber piping round our eriba ( don't know the official name) its come up like new so now we have to clean the other bit as it's being shown up thanks for the tips everyone Ellen.

i used toothpaste on a stain on clothes, was amazed with the result
hermiz or herzim one or t'other, if its the part that covers the screws the white outer seal is called underlay.
this leads to uncontrolled chanting

underlay, underlay, eriba, eriba,

Some sticky if not water based will come off with lighter fluid. Again check as I have used it on plastics but not a window.
