Removing sticky glue

Possibly one for Agger, could anyone tell me if white spirit would be ok to use on the inside of our Eribas window? We removed a sticker that was needed at our previous storage site and there is a horrid sticky glue left in the window that we can't get off. It will drive me nuts until I completely get rid of it and so I'm wondering if white spirit will do the job? Thank you. Ellen

I would use duraglit, I expect someone will say otherwise! But I have used it safely on plexiglass, makrolon, polycarbonate and lexan. I would use the wadding type as it is easier, hth

Use a fresh tin as it is the wet stuff that removes the residue, don't scrub just lightly pass over the sticky patch and it will start to soften, continue to use the wadding until the residue is removed, then just polish it off with a duster.

Sorry for the late edit, we've been entertaining a few friends.

I've also got in it in my head that someone said you could polish your whole windows with it ? Someone also mentioned using toothpaste for this, I have no experience of using it for either, but I have used it on my windows to remove local scratches and it works well.

A friend once told me that the cutting agent in Duraglit is shellfish? Again I don't know if thats true but he was the best car finisher I've ever known!

The stuff in the picture also works well, it should it's practically the same.

Don't know about the others but T Cut should work???? You do have to careful with Polycarbonate as using the wrong stuff can cause it to "crack like an old Triplex windscreen"

Thanks Guys. Will try toothpaste first in a tiny area then if this doesn't work we will try other recommendations. I've just ordered some of the Harley wax off ebay so that Doo-Dah will have a good wax protection for the winter. We bought a cover from protec covers and have never yet used it, I worry that if it were to come loose in windy weather some damage could occur. Should sell it really as it could be some time before we move to a house where Doods can live with us.

I don't think you should worry about using the Protec cover Ellen. They fit like a glove. We've used ours for the past four years without any problems and the van is in quite an exposed position. If you are worried you can always used a few extra "tie downs" along with the fixed straps on the cover.
"Should sell it really"? I hope you're referring to the cover and not Doo Dah...

Couldn't imagine life without doo dah Roger, I think we may just try the cover this winter. The couple that own the site where Doo-Dah is are very nice and.cant help enough. I am sure they would let us know if there was a problem. They keep a spare key if you wish incase you forget to do something before you leave. The lady reckons her dog lives on what people forget in their fridges throughout the season I should have thought on about using vinegar as I use it for all sorts of jobs like cleaning the inside of the washing machine and I add a drop to the water I wash our windows with.
