lost my Robstop WS 3000 hitchlock coming back from Exeter summer last year.

I know there's a split in opinions on this issue but can you tow with the Robstop in place?

yes, I have always towed with it in place and there have been no problems and obviously when detached from the car we put in the round ball item (not sure of correct name).
how did I lose it, well I forgot to attach it before moving off!!!!!!!!!!!!
