Fridges in modern vans

I have noticed that when I open the fridge door the internal light comes on. Nothing unusual, until you consider this happens when the van is not hooked up to the mains, 12v is turned off and it is not attached to the car. ie the light feed to the fridge is permanent. Do others have a similar set-up?

More worrying is how do you know if it goes out when you close the door?

It's the way the CSV409 12V distribution/charger unit is configured, Colin.

The CSV409 supplies a permanent 12V to the fridge electronics so it will still work when camping off grid using gas.

Switching the fridge's energy selector to the off position, will... errrr, switch it off - light n all.
