Is there anyone here who tows with an Audi A3 8V (2012-2020)?

Anyone apart from Mr Motters, that is.

I've got a pair of specific-fit EMUK extension mirrors for this model A3 which we won't need any more. These mirrors are the best you can get. The dog's testicles.

Now I know I haven't put a price for them (which flies in the face of my own advice in the items for sale sticky), but the thing is I'm not even sure that there is actually anybody here (apart from Mr Motters) who has an A3.

And there's clearly no point taking and posting pictures and all that gubbins if nobody has one.

Here is a picture of the fine mirrors. I can confirm they are excellent. The vehicle specific cast aluminium bracket arms perfectly. I paid £110 for mine from Germany as they are not available in the UK, and have no regrets. They fit in seconds with either no or minor adjustment and allow the normal operation of your electric mirrors when they are fitted

I have got 2018 Audi A3 1.5 petrol, and do not pick my caravan up till 23rd June 540gt,How do you find car does with pulling caravan as this is my first caravan and any tips would be very much appreciated .

Hello Richard

We towed a 540 with our 2017 2.0TFSI without any problems at all. You need Mr Motters to chip in here - he's towing with a 1.5 like yours.

And while I'm here, if you'd like to have the mirrors that started the thread they're yours for what it costs to send them.

That's a snip, though I say it myself. They're just cluttering our place up.

Okes. I'll get back to you with a carriage cost when we get home.

I should have mentioned in the first post that I've shortened the arms (properly, not bodged) because they were miles too long the way they came.

I didn't want to get home to find I'd inadvertently impaled a cyclist and taken him where he'd no intention of going.

Even with shorter arms the visibity they afford is still leagues better than not having them on at all.

Richard, grab the mirrors off that man, they’re wonderful.
I tow a 1200kg Triton with the 1.5 petrol A3. I am ver impressed and would happily tow a 1300/1400 kg Troll with it. A more weighty tow vehicle would always be nice but I have now towed probably towed in excess of 6K miles and felt comfortable at all times. If anything the car is capable of towing at to fast a speed. On a long motorway run I am now returning 37/38 mpg this year at a steady 55mph, car and van loaded for a week or two, but no heavy awning or bikes.On a 2.5K France trip in 2019 with a very full car and van at higher speeds this dropped to nearer 34mpg. These figures are similar to my previous diesel Skoda Yeti. What I am still amazed at is how flexible the engine is with the torque available across a wide rev range. Leaving Merseyside a month or so back on a trip to Totnes in Devon I joined the M62 and sat with the car in 6th and cruise control until the end of the M5.

Are they Mirroirs Audi/VAG accessories, or an aftermarket jobbie?

Just wondering if they'll fit the Steamdriven Skoda Karoq?

Previous owner's bills etc were left in the car, originally supplied by Carrs of North Petheridge and previously owned by a gennleman from Dunster.

I had nothing to do on this hot afternoon
But to settle down and write you a line

To the best of my knowledge VAG do not do extension mirrors, and certainly not model-specific ones.

So yes, they are aftermarket.

These mirrors are model-specific unless the mirror housings themselves are shared by more than one model. This is the case with a Skoda Karoq and a Kodiaq for example, but the A3 8V ones I'm giving away (and which Colin has) will only fit that car.

Have a look at the EMUK website.
