Flipping Brexit

Back and forward with emails today to a Dutch manufacturer only to finally find out I can’t get the canopy I would like to buy. The reason being return problems, courier problems and items going missing also the Brexit word came into it.
Tried another Dutch website that also sells the awning. Website is set out with an English option making things easier, get to checkout and again the message “we do not ship to this country”
Now got sailmaker onboard.[[File:EDEFE33C-2789-460F-B2A0-5C70CD461CFC.png|none|auto]]

I’ve sent a sailmaker the dimensions and pictures of the Dutch canopy. I’ve asked for the sides to be zipped out instead of rolled up and waiting for the prices to come back.

There was a company called tent valeting in Farnworth Bolton, they would make awning and canopies to customer spec.
Maybe worth a try.

My mate had an awning altered at Tent valeting in Farnworth a few years ago.

Oh well, if the Dutch don't want to play ball, then they have lost out and your hard earned will hopefully help our economy. Brexit has happened and they need to to get over it.

I noticed a UK site the other day that had big red bar across it saying that they were no longer supplying Northern Ireland.

And it's fine saying 'get over it' but those are Dutch businesses saying they won't supply UK customers, presumably not for political reasons but because the customs, bureaucracy and transport issues make it not profitable to do so. I very much doubt that any business, Dutch or otherwise would stop supplying a market if it was profitable to do so.

I’ve thrown the towel in on getting one made.
They are talking 10 to 12 weeks to make a canopy due to being so busy and I need one sooner.
So it’ll be the tried and trusted Isabella Loggia or maybe Shadow.

Ronnie, just buy an Isabella Shadow. I'm not sure which van you have but there are two 2.4m models, perfect for a Familia on Gumtree at present for £75 [the newer add and model, my choice] and £80 which are fair prices. If you have a Triton or Troll then 3.0m is the length to buy.
If you later find what you really want you should get your money back, but I think you would be very happy with your initial purchase.

Think I will Colin. I’ve already made a mistake buying a Kampa air awning off the seller of the troll I’ve just bought. Didn’t like it and I’ve just managed to get my money back.

That's the reply I got back today from Fortex,

Good morning,
Unfortunately we do not send awnings to the UK at this moment. We can’t seem to find a transport company who is willing to transport thanks to Brexit.

Ended up buying an Isabella Loggia. Put it up a couple of times and more than happy with it.
