Colin. Brilliant spot there! Do you think this is the rear left (number plate) light? After the rear right really.

I would think what defines left from right would be a clear section on the inner end to throw light towards a number plate. The e-bay item does not appear to have a end section. I'm also guessing it is prior to requirement for rear fog and reversing light regs so now ay of knowing left or right hand specific.

Looking at the picture you can see the fitting for the number plate bulb. This does not appear to be fully equipped for this function so I would guess it is not the number plate version. The lenses were possibly universal to save manufacturing costs for separate versions.

If it is the "wrong" one does it really matter? the number plate facility can just be ignored surely.

The number plate has by law to be illuminated.

Agreed Colin, it does. But the OP was after the right hand, non-number plate light. So a number plate equipped one can be used instead but not use the number plate facility, that being on the other side.

Nope, definitely pleased. Rather get it right than left ;) Anyway it's the mount I'm really after, so maybe I'm being a bit too fussy.

New (2nd hand) light fitted. In excellent condition and less than £25 all in from Ebay. The mounting for left and right are the same. The 'metalwork' is the same. The lens are not the same. I would imagine the numberplate lens would be fine for the other side, but obviously not the other way around. This is the non-numberplate lens (which I wanted) so worked out well.

Thanks to Colin (eribaMotters) for pointing me in the right direction. The mounting was all I really wanted. Ill keep the old one just in case...hens teeth these things. Ignore the dent ;)
