Cracked front bay window on 1997 L225 puck

Hi I have recently bought a Puck L225 1997, during inspection when I got it home the window seals had gone on the bay window, while removing (carefully) 2 cracks appeared at the bottom to the front panel, in short the window needs replacing or repaired? not sure if that's an option ?.

Ive been around the web looking for a spare but have come up blank, the Puck is indoors so is watertight.

Any advice would be much appreciated
Ronnie

Hi Ronnie. I have seen several folk who have got around the problem.

Obviously to find a replacement would be first choice but if that proves to be impossible then why not do as this guy from Germany has done. He's not alone for I've come across several owners who have done the mod. which has the advantage of having two opening windows.

He has replaced the one piece fixed window with two off the shelf opening camper van windows of a suitable size with outer frames by cutting and rebuilding the front to suit. I've seen people just filling in the hole where the window was with sheeting to make a blind front but with a PuckL I think you'll need the front windows as you have a very small rear kitchen window.

When it broke, given the cost of a new one, I modified it by putting a central support and two smaller windows. I felt good because I could decide how much air to let in.

Not sure about that.

Too much of an armoured car thing going on, especially with the matte black paintwork.

Looks as if you'd be greeted by the muzzle of an AK47 rather than a cheery 'Good Morning!'

Still, each to their own.

Ah yes I agree but I've since found this thread that I added to Facebook in 2021 which shows a far more sympathetic alteration. (it may also be on here somewhere?)

"Replacing a single front window with a double.
An Eriba member on the Eriba Touring Group has allowed me to share his comment and photos with you.
I think it's a very neat job and may inspire some of you to follow suit if necessary. I suppose the only worry is the rainworthiness of the front windows when towing.
Thomas says:-
Hello everyone! I would like to show you here my conversion of the bow window, which was necessary after the old window was broken. I decided to build two clear windows instead of the original curved window.
Hope the implementation is successful"

I can recommend Caravan Crazy - just received a brand new replacement rear window (sourced from Europe) for my 2005 Triton and the whole process was really easy and efficient. And 70% of the other quotes I got - and they were mostly for used windows!

The owner Thomas Schmid is from Germany and he has said that the window system is named "Carbest", it is a brand that belongs to Reimo. Size is 45cm to 50cm.
It would appear that Reimo supply campervan windows so I suspect that you could source something from a number of manufacturers.

Got a hit on a replacement window which caravan crazy have in stock ...however would cost £2000 plus vat as they described eye watering ...so currently looking at other options prior to a win on the lottery 😅
