Truma Varioheat?

Morning all!
We took our '24 530 out of winter storage this weekend and set up in the middle of Sweden. As it was a bit chilly, we ran the heating (gas only) and I noticed two things:
- the gas fire is pretty smelly if it hasn't been run for a while (will give it a clean next time!)
- the forced air fan is pretty noisy, even at the lowest setting - nor does it seem to move much heat.

I've been considering buying the electric heater element upgrade for the heater anyway but I noticed Truma also sells the varioheat solution for only a little more than the ultraheat element. Anyone have any experience with this product?

The gas fire will smell for a good 10/15 minutes after not being used for a long time. At first this is disconcerting, but it is very normal.
Daft question, have you checked that the blown air vents are not blanked off on the back, as somebody at the factory may have forgotten to remove the blank.
I don't know anything about the varioheat, but I do have the optional electric element and it is good, but expensive as a retro fit.

Thanks! The air vents expel air so definitely work, though the system takes quite some time to heat up.
I'd planned to install the electric element myself once the warranty goes, but the price difference between that and the varioheat is not huge (7000sek vs 5000sek) so it might be worth the difference if it's faster to heat up and especially if it's quieter (to say nothing of the effort to manually install the element...)
